Trinity River is reknown for swimming, rafting and fishing (steelhead & salmon). Cabin is on quiet country road 5 miles from town which has restaurants, store, video rental, clinic, golf course, public tennis court. A gentle trail to the river- just 300 feet, see photo. One of the few rentals ON the River. Day trips to coastal beaches and Redwood National Park. Willow Creek is on Hwy 299 one hour east of Arcata, 2 hours west of Redding. Great any time of year, summer, spring and fall are lovely! Kayakers, rafters and fishermen also enjoy staying here.
We are a middle aged couple with two children. We work full time and enjoy our vacation home when we can and enjoy sharing it with others. It is a special place to us and has created many happy family memories. We have some families return year after year, so it has become a happy family memories for them as well!
Deborah purchased this house in 1999
The Trinity River is a very beautiful natural setting. We bought the property to enjoy the sun, as we live in the coastal fog belt. We wanted a place right on the river so we can easily swim and relax. And the climate is perfect to grow a summer garden. We love the town of Willow Creek, which has so many activities available, such as the rafting companies that rent boats and provide guided trips. There are no crowds and there is everything you might need.
Right on the river, just stroll down - one of the few houses with such easy access.
We are local from the coast ( fog) and came to enjoy the heat and the river. West swimming as much as possible. Loft is amazing, LOL wish I lived here. Enjoyed your apples!
Cabin sits back in the trees just off the river just as the pictures show. The amenities are fantastic, well stocked with fire wood. Great place to bundle up & be in love with just a short drive for daily adventures. Personally I think they need to show more pictures of the cabin during the different seasons. Words can not describe the hill sides in the fall. So many good things about the cabin & the area its hard to select just a few. Can't wait until our next trip.
The photos depicted the place accurately. No surprises when we pulled into the driveway. Beautiful, private setting with the river just steps away from the balcony. We completely enjoyed the solitude and warmth of the small local town. We traveled throughout the area quite a bit, took several long hikes. rafted on the river, went deep sea fishing, and enjoyed the fresh organic food of the region. The great thing about this cabin is that we were able to cook our own meals on the grill and stove, and use the washer & dryer. We loved looking through the windows at night as we lay in bed. The trees created a barrier from the sun during the day, and the light fixtures were a bit dim - so the cabin was a little dark in the morning. If you want to put on makeup you'll need to step out on the balcony to be able to see better (but, I didn't mind that). My husband and I we were the only two in the cabin, but, there is plenty of room for more people. There is a local video store that came in handy at night since the cabin has a DVD player. We would recommend this vacation spot and hope to return again soon.
The property is beautiful and well-maintained with a lovely view of the Trinity River and far enough from town for quiet but close enough for groceries and other necessities. There is a nice yard with river access, and when we were there in July, there were some shallow and sheltered areas appropriate for carefully-supervised wading and splashing at the river's edge. (But the river is quite fast, so this would NOT be safe for small children or for swimming.)
The owners were helpful and friendly and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for our stay and to answer every question we had. At the end of our stay, my nieces were begging to come back again next summer.
(I meant to write a review earlier but better late than never...)
My husband and I wanted to visit California and experience as much as we could in the week we had. We stayed in this beautiful mountain/river house for only 4 nights of our week, and didn't want to leave. We enjoyed going to the Redwoods and did some hiking in the Six Rivers National Forest. Evenings were spent by the river, cooking and sitting on the deck. A beautiful home with a lot of beautiful scenery. We could not have asked for more, everything was as expected if not better. We would love to bring more family back to this area of Northern California. Thanks to the owners for the wonderful house and all the help with things to do while we were there.
A friend and I stayed with our 6 kids (ages 3-10) for three nights in early June. We wanted a quiet spot where the kids could play and we could chat. Although we had the maximum number for the cabin, we were quite comfortable and had sufficient supplies for bathing and eating. The new deck was quite nice, and we appreciated that a good portion of it was covered, as there was some rain during our stay but the kids could still play outside. I imagine this would also be a great shady spot later in the summer.
The kids had a fantastic time playing by the river, which is just a couple of minutes walk from the cabin. Very convenient for bathroom breaks! There is a large sandy area perfect for sand castles and digging, plus several spots for collecting tadpoles and observing other wildlife.
The owner responded promptly to all of our questions beforehand and returned the deposit within a week of our departure. She provided very clear directions so we had no trouble finding the cabin.
If I didn't live so far away (northern Oregon), we would definitely return to this spot on a regular basis. I highly recommend it!
We rented last July and are looking forward to the summer of 2010. The house was just right for us and had everything we needed. We rented a raft and had a wonderful float. Saw an eagle! Quiet and peaceful, the water was great. I highly recommend Trinity River Cabin, and willow creek was a nice town, went out to dinner one night. Folks were friendly.
From our place you can walk to the river....one of the few in the area! Willow Creek is 45 miles from the coast at Arcata, California. This inland valley was created by the scenic Trinity River. A peaceful town with all the services you might need, the cabin in located just 5 miles away on a quiet back road. Guests have enjoyed hiking, biking, rafting, golf and all water sports in Willow Creek, and day trips to the coast to see the redwoods, go on charter fishing boats, wonderful ocean beaches etc.
Other Activities: rafting, Several companies provide rafts and guided trips (highly recommended, half day or full day)

130. per night is for TWO people. Add 10.00 per night for each additional person 10 years old and up. The rate estimator that VRBO and Homeaway calculates does NOT show this......we feel small groups should pay less than large.
5 night min. in summer, 3 nights off season. Always ask, and look at calendar. Thanks!
