Nice Condo but Poor Communication by Owner

My husband and I stayed here for 12 nights in Nov 2012 and our adult daughter and her friend joined us for a few nights. Here are the pros and cons. It is a clean and spacious condo but it faces Front St and can be noisy dut to the traffic so not really conducive to relaxing on the lanai. The condo has been very nicely updated with a comfortable king size bed and nice bathrooms. There is not a lot of privacy for those who sleep on the sofa bed so may be more suitable for children than a 2nd couple. The resort has a nice pool and grassy area but the beach is only a few feet wide. It is close to all of the amenities on Front St. such as shops and restaurants but not walking distance to a grocery store. We enjoyed our stay here and when we called the mgt. company on the first day to tell them the toaster didn't work, they brought us a new one the same day. You may want to take beach towels as none are provided. There is cable internet but if more than one person wants to use a laptop you should bring a wireless router. Otherwise, we found that it was very well equipped. The only real ISSUE we had was the COMMUNICATION with the owner prior to our stay. It was all good until we mailed him our cheque for the full payment. He told us he would email us as soon as it arrived. When we didn't hear from him within 10 days, I sent an email asking if he had recieved it. NO RESPONSE. 5 days later I sent ANOTHER email. STILL NO RESPONSE. I sent a 3rd email 5 days later and still NO RESPONSE!! After 3 weeks were losing sleep and beginning to wonder if we had been scammed. VRBO recommended we get their insurance just in case. Finally we called Tom who sounded like he had no idea who we were or what we were calling about! He said he had NOT received our payment. I asked him why he had not responded to our 3 emails and said he had been away and had no internet access! (I know this is not true because I had my sister send him an info request and he responded in 30 min!) We told Tom we would have our bank put a trace on our bank draft. He later to say he had found our cheque after all. In all the years we have used VRBO we have never had a problem like this. It seemed that soon as he had sealed the deal and had our $$ he had no interest in us. VRBO recommended always having a signed rental contract which Tom does NOT provide. When I asked for one he ignored my request. To summarize... nice accommodation but very POOR COMMUNICATION by the owner.

As you stated when the toaster was reported broken to me , It was replaced the same day...
I am glad you had a good time in Maui and liked the room , sorry if the communication was not to your level of expectation. I will stride to improve if you think it needs to be done
There will be wireless internet effective December 1, 2012 , items and technician will set up at that time . Beach Towels are now available upon request also effective 12-1-2012 .... Thank you for letting me know how I could improve the room .
