Peaceful, quiet but with enough for children to do

We spent a wonderful week in July with three boys, 18, 16 and 12 on a visit from Sevenoaks in the UK. The house is easy to use, comfortable for at least 6 with plenty of room inside and out on the deck leading down to the dock. The lake is safe - and warm - for swimming and the four boats and canoes are perfect for tours/gentle races depending on the mood. The boys were in heaven, they could go off for an hour or so and we knew they'd be safe. We needed peace and quiet and we got it. There's very little traffic on the lake, often we were the only boats on the water and one morning we saw a small bear having a paddle. A bear in New Jersey, news to most in Britain! There's a couple of decent small shops within a mile, everyone was helpful and we took in a drive-in movie under a thunderstorm just over the border in New York, about 8 miles away. All this in a house 60 minutes from Manhatten, I know, we did it one day.
The house had everything we needed for the week, with lots of thoughtful touches for ease of use and a relaxing time. We had a great week, this is a little gem of a place, really lovely.
