Overall Nice

The place was nice overall, as described by the owners.
Positives:
1. Beautiful lake
2. Nice and cozy well-appointed home
3. Convenient location
Negatives:
1. Poorly insulated (on multiple nights when it was 68 and beautiful outside, late in the evening, it was 84 and sweltering inside despite all the windows being open and all fans running...the home inexplicably retained heat (and no, the heat was not on). I would've slept outside if I did not have to worry about getting eaten alive by the bugs(which are obviously omnipresent but otherwise bearable with repellant).
2. Dysfunctional and dishonest cleaning service. I had $35 taken from our security deposit by the owner for having "checked out" late. The "checkout time" is 10 AM and apparently at 1015 the cleaning crew claims (nonsense) that they were waiting outside and then left. We were outside and packing our cars and left at about 1020 and noone was waiting (I accept that we were not “off the premises” by 10 and could care less about $35 except this is petty). Ironically, they would have been more than welcome to the house at 10 since my mother-in-law was actually cleaning the kitchen, which was left SPOTLESS, at the time despite the fact that we paid for cleaning! Basically, the cleaning company got $95 cleaning and $35 late charge to clean 2 bathrooms and vacuum. The cleaning company also claimed it took longer than usual to clean the unit (What a joke! What they failed to mention was that since we traveled from California with all the sheets and linens for the home we chose to leave them behind instead of paying to fly it all back home. I guarantee the cleaners washed all the linens, on the owners’ nickel, and kept these for themselves and then claimed they had to work harder to clean the unit). BEWARE OF USING THE CLEANING SERVICE
Owner's Response: Yes, there are bugs on windless days in NH. In June.
I do wish the house would hold heat. Plenty of fans are available to blow the outdoors inside, if need be.
This tenant paid for a full clean, so why was he still there at 10:30am cleaning? By the way, showing no signs of leaving at 10:35.
Sheets and towels were recovered all balled-up in outdoor closet and disposed of at my request.
Please be assured, you do not need to beware of our cleaning co. They are honest hard-working people who deserve fair compensation for their time. We will always be most concerned with the cleanliness and condition of the property upon your arrival.--Chris
