LAKEFRONT CHALET IN THE WHITE MOUNTAINS

Conway Chalet Rental Photos and Description

3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, sleeps 6-8

A quaint waterfront chalet in a quiet wooded neighborhood. This home is in excellent condition with a beautiful view of the White Mountains. 100 ft of sandy beach on Conway's pristine Pequawket Pond gives you access to swimming, boating, fishing, skating and cross country skiing all in your backyard. Located at the beginning of the Kancamagus Highway and the White Mountain National Forest, home to Mount Washington. The house is minutes from world-class ski areas including: Wildcat, Bretton Woods, Attitash and Cranmore. Also, this house is only minutes away from the brand new 40,000 sq. ft. indoor water park located at the Red Jacket Mountain View Resort and the world famous Storyland.

Located in the heart of the Mount Washington Valley: This property is located close to everything the Mount Washington Valley has to offer. Great outlet shopping, first-class restaurants and cafes, boutique shopping, cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, white water rafting, and numerous hiking and outdoor adventures.

Close to Major Attractions: The chalet is located about ten minutes away from Kahuna Laguna, the brand new indoor 40,000 sq. ft. water park at the Red Jacket Mountain View Resort, as well as the world famous StoryLand.

Ski season rental, Golf buddies trip, Artist retreat: This is an excellent chalet for specialized trips. These are just a few suggestions:

Want to make skiing in the northeast as easy and convenient as if you owned a wonderful chalet like this yourself? Have your skis, board and boots clean and dry, know the route, know what to pack. If so, consider renting for the season or 1/2 the season.

Got the buddies together and looking for challenging courses as well as breathtaking scenery, great food and cold drinks? Consider a week rental or call for a special rate on a two week rental.

The beauty and serenity are the perfect recipe to get the creative juices flowing. Are you a writer or painter? Consider a 4 week creative getaway to finally finish that project.

Dear Deb and Chris, Thank You! A great time was had by all. We loved the lamps. The fishing was so good I couldn't get my husband off the dock. Can't wait to visit again. Joyce

Debbie and I bought the chalet because of the myriad activities available on the property and in the Mount Washington Valley. Whether it be swimming and diving in the pristine waters of Pequawket Pond during summer or sledding and cross-country skiing during winter, the house has so much to offer all who have made the chalet a regular vacation spot.

All in your backyard:

Summer: Camping, Outlet shopping, swimming, diving, pedal boating, sunbathing and fantastic views.

Winter: Outlet shopping, Cross-Country skiing, sledding, campfires and fantastic views.

Autumn: Leaf-Peeping.

FANTASTIC PLACE!

  • 5 of 5
What a great place! Very open and spacious feeling.Lots of counter space in the kitchen with everything you need.Fantastic view and very quiet, You could just sit and take in the view all day. Large beach area with a great sandy entrance to the water. The kids loved it. Fire pit to toast marshmallows at night. You really don't need to leave, everything is right in your backyard. Close to all the shopping you could want and so many other things to see and do. You have a wonderful place and we definately will be looking forward to coming back.

FABULOUS!

  • 5 of 5
This was the perfect vacation spot. We brought canoe and discovered the lake was much bigger than we initially thought. Bring canoes or kayaks! If you head straight out from the camp, the water turns into a river to the right. We paddled to downtow Conway. Or, if you turn left, there is another large body of water!! We fished a lot, too. We were so close to some beautiful walks and hikes! Check out Cathedral Ledge and also Diana's Bath, and the Kangamagus Hwy. They are all only a few miles away.
Bring your bugspray.
We sat around the campfire at night. It was heaven.
IF it rains, there is plenty of outlet shopping nearby.
LOVED IT!!!!

LOVELY PLACE FOR GETAWAY WITH FAMILY OR FRIENDS

  • 4 of 5
We arrived quite late so it was dark when we got into the area. I wouldnt advise this - it was a nightmare to find! Off a small road there is only a tiny sign with the house number on, barely visible and the satnav only took us to the general area so we got quite lost! It also shares a dirt track off the road with the next door neighbour so we ended up stopping and getting out of the car to figure out how to actually get onto the property! When you get into the house it is beautiful - a nice, clean modern set up.
One thing that we didnt quite get was that two out of 3 of the rooms dont have full walls (they have a big gap between the wall and the roof) - which did restrict our privacy and enhanced the noise from the kitchen somewhat, which meant that if someone was up in the morning, everyone was up!
The first thing that we noiced in the morning was the view - having the balcony area at the front was so wonderful, sipping a cup of tea out there every morning was perfect!
It was also lovely having the BBQ out there as well as the fire pit at the bottom, so that we could have our BBQ then go and light the fire for smores afterwards.
One thing that I would say about it was that we didnt feel very welcome - there were notes everywhere stating that we should do things rather than asking politely (including saying that there was a squirrel in the walls and to keep the door shut!!) and there was no toilet roll when we got there which was a bit of a shock - also we spent hours trying to find things in the kitchen which could have been helped by knowing what is available with a list or something? There was a lot of different utensils in the kitchen though, so that was nice to have.
I do think that there should have been an option for linins because it cancels out the people that will be coming on planes to visit the area. We have very little bedding in our apartment in the city, and my mum was flying in from another country so we had to buy linin to fit the beds which was very annoying. If there was an option to rent some and wash them then we would have taken that option and it would have helped us a lot - might be something to think about for the future? Other than that, the house was beautiful, the lake was stunning and we even went swimming in it in september! The paddle boat is a nice touch too - we had lots of fun in that tootling accross the lake! I loved the tradition of dressing the ducks too :-) All in all though a good trip and lovely lake house!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the feedback. I'm sorry there was some difficulties but future tenants should know: tenants receive explicit directions in their welcome package because satellite does lead you to the wrong side of the street for some reason. So please follow the directions I give you and you won't have any trouble getting to the chalet. The chalet is a small house and does have open-vaulted ceilings. Additionally, you should know that it is clearly stated in the lease, and on Homeaway, that towels and linens are not included in the quoted price. The reason for this is it adds about $50.00 to $75.00 to the maintenance service, so most people prefer to bring their own linens. If you feel you'd like to have towels and linens provided, I'll be happy to supply them for you.

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE.....JUST FANTASTIC!!!!

  • 5 of 5
This property was an absolute dream!!! The pictures simply cannot do it proper justice. The mountain and lake views are absolutely breathtaking! The listing description is spot on. Working with this owner was a delight. He makes sure the property is clean, warm and very welcoming. The property is located close to outlets, beautiful hiking trails, tubing, and quaint Conway dining and shopping experiences. We had a wonderful time both times that we have rented...and we intend to return next summer as well!!! Thank you for such a wonderful vacation experience!!!!

PERFECT HOME FOR FAMILY VACATION!

  • 5 of 5
The home/lakefront is exactly as pictured -- very charming and cozy with your own private beach, firepit, raft and pedal boat. (There were more like half a dozen chairs around the firepit rather than the 2 shown in the pictures online -- and it was nice to have the extra seating there.) My older teens spent a lot of time on the raft and out on the lake on inflatable (Intex Challenger 2) boats that we brought with us. The lake is a perfect size! Large enough to make it fun to explore in a person-powered boat yet small enough and quiet enough boat-activity-wise that it felt safe to swim out in the middle of the lake. We did see one dinghy with a very small/slow outboard motor -- otherwise everything on the water was non-motorized. There was a pair of resident loons who we saw occasionally and would hear calling late in the evening (LOVE that eery sound!).

The house itself had everything you could want and a very convenient layout. With teenagers, we really appreciated the second bath! And the open layout of the house was very conducive to family togetherness. The kitchen, dining and living area were contiguous -- all with that lovely view overlooking the lake -- which made it very nice as you could be cooking in the kitchen and still part of the conversation. The design of the house with the chalet ceiling also allowed for easy air-flow and although it was a fairly hot day when we arrived and the house had been shut up, it cooled down very quickly with just the fans and the windows open.

As for the local area, we really enjoyed some of the local restaurants: 'A Taste of Thai' was especially excellent and 'Moat Mountain Smokehouse & Brewing Co.' was very good as well. Although we appreciated the organic initiative, we found 'The Flatbread Company' just good rather than great - a very long wait and crowded atmosphere (although the pizza was tasty and the ginger cookies for dessert were awesome!). For breakfast, we usually ate in, but Saturday morning on our way out, we detoured slightly into Conway and got breakfast at the Sweet Maple Cafe on Main Street. Although there was no waitress service (you order at the counter) everyone's food was excellent! For local area activities, Monkey Trunks in Chocorua was a blast!! (Great on an overcast drizzly day!) & the Auto Road up Mt. Wash. is definitely not for the faint of heart!

Lastly, Chris was an awesome landlord -- very speedy and helpful response to every communication. Thanks!!
