Thank you for this wonderful getaway and hide away! We did feel cozy being 'Nestled in the Woods'. Hiking from the Cottage to Hearts Desire Beach was a special treat. Window seat was a perfect perch from where to do crossword puzzles and read books. We ate good foods and listened to great music. Next time we'll bring our daughter. She'll love it here.

Our third visit to Sea Ridge!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I just came back from our third stay at Sea Ridge Cottage and we loved it even more, after taking a year off (to go to Italy instead of Pt. Reyes!). We didn't want to leave there after 5 nights. So peaceful and private, landscaping so beautiful, and the aromas on the flowers! Wendy always has wonderful new things to enhance the kitchen: beautiful new china, the hot pot (perfect for my tea!) and convection/toaster oven are the highest quality. Always a relief to see the Peet's in the 'fridge for my husband. New high quality linens on beds, nice thick cotton towels gives the cottage the air of an expensive hotel. We still haven't hiked all the trails at Pt. Reyes, and we still love the private one down to the beach. Thank you, we'll be back!

Perfect

We had a splendid visit in this Tree House situated on the side of Inverness Ridge. The cottage is exactly as described in VRBO. Owner Wendy provided more useful information and was extremely helpful. Everything was well cleaned and kitchen equipment worked. If you enjoy a rustic cottage close to nature this is the one to use when visiting Point Reyes National Seashore. If you enjoy Czech food try Vladimir's in Inverness. We hiked down to Shell Beach and saw some leopard sharks in the shallows of Tomales Bay. Then we drove to the lighthouse and saw some whales including one "baby". We encountered a sand storm on Limatour Beach but usually it is a fun place to visit.

Back for a second time and loved it even more!

  • 5 of 5
We loved our 5 nights in Searidge Cottage last September so much that we booked a full week this time--and look forward to many more! We loved this magical treehouse even more this time and hated to leave. Wendy has added an ingenious window and sink to the bathroom (and a huge greenhouse type window in the kitchen), both with marble counters, which I think would satisfy some of the complainers above. After being married for 35 years, we didn't mind brushing our teeth in the kitchen sink last year---we felt like we were on a sailboat in the galley. BUT the bathroom is now SO beautiful! Marble counters, new fixtures, new toilet, strong shower, view of the woods, good natural soaps. The kitchen is perfect size for making our breakfasts and lunches. There is a full size refrigerator. (Loved the Peet's coffee again on the first morning!) We always went out to dinner at the many great local restaurants (we're vegetarians). Our favorites: Station House Cafe, Cafe Reyes, Stellina, all a few minutes away in Pt. Reyes Station. In the cottage we chose again to sleep up in the loft because it's so cozy and has very comfortable mattress (full size) ever. Ladder type stair up is actually easy to navigate, even in the dark, with good handholds (and I'm 58 years old!). We love the loft, with its windows out towards the Pacific, watch the moon, hear the wind, see the fog roll out. The downstairs queen size bed in the bedroom looks very comfy too, but we have one at home, and in this magical, beautifully designed treehouse it makes sense to us to stay up in loft. We hiked every day in National Seashore, on all different trails than we did last year. The closest trail heads are about 10 minute drive away. Two long (about 9 mile) hikes we loved: Alamere Falls and Pierce Point---where we saw many rare Tule Elk. Lots of beach walking too, seals, sunsets. Wendy has always been wonderfully easy to work with, cottage is beautifully clean, nice linens. It really looks like photos! Architect's design of cottage and its location on property are ingenious--cottage is completely private from the main house, with very separate parking area. Neither occupants of house nor cottage can possibly see/hear the other one. We saw two cars parked outside the house on the weekend, but never heard or saw a soul there while we were in the cottage. Good lights all along the path down to cottage at night, can be turned on/off at either end. We look forward to many more visits! Thank you!

Delightful Retreat

  • 5 of 5
Fabulous! This place seemed enchanted. I thought we should stay and see if Snow White showed up. But probably better that it was completely quiet and secluded. Naps on the comfy window seat, drinking coffee on the deck watching the butterflies, a romantic fire in the fireplace after oysters barbecued on the deck, hiking to Shell Beach from here. A hummingbird hung out in the flowers just outside the window. This place is like a little fairytale cottage.

The loft had a treehouse feel to it, but we liked the other warm snuggly bed even more. The bathroom and kitchen were small but we found everything we needed. All was clean and equiped with everything. One thing is that it's down a path off the road and while it wouldn't be good for someone who has trouble walking, we loved it because it was off by itself and special not looking at neighbors or houses from any of the windows. The place is super convenient because it was just minutes to Point Reyes Station (loved the Bovine Bakery) or Inverness for supplies and closer to other hikes or beaches as well (Drakes Beach was really great).

Magical and Charming Cottage

  • 5 of 5
I stayed here recently with two friends and we all absolutely loved it! The cottage is super unique, relaxing and cozy- the total opposite of some generic motel or vacation rental. It really is the perfect simple woodsy getaway from the city. We barbequed local oysters on the deck which looks out on the trees. The small kitchen is best for one person cooking at a time, but you can make great meals as it is well stocked and has most everything you need. Wendy was also friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended!

These hills have eyes

  • 1 of 5
While the area is beautiful, this rental is definitely lacking. The "kitchen" and bathroom are the size of those of a small trailer, so that you are constantly hitting your head or stubbing your toes into something; the kitchen has no oven and is so tiny it's hard to do anything in. It is quite a hike down to the cabin (and back up!) if you are carrying anything, especially in the dark. when we booked, we read in one place "Dogs ok" and another "Feel free to bring your dog" but didn't check with the owner. While I see that this was our fault, and it was fair to pay the extra fee, the weird part was that after 5 minutes of arriving, the owner called to talk about our dogs...THEY WERE WATCHING US! This made us feel like we were being watched the whole time. Not fun. So we paid a lot for this very small, hard to get to, not private place. We won't be doing this again.

Owner's Response: Sea Ridge Cottage welcomes those with pets as well as guests without. These guests were told that we would be having professional steam cleaners in the day before. While leaving the property the next day at the check-in time, our cleaners noticed that these in-coming guests had two unregistered dogs. With the newly steamed carpets and because we always provide a doggy welcome basket when anticipating a pet arrival, the cleaners called us to ask if we had made surprise arrangements and wondered if they needed to return to the cottage to make accommodations.

This is a very private cottage. It is set off from the road with switches at both ends to control the lighting along the 60 yd sloped path. This affords guests a secluded stay with views of nature from all windows and deck.

When I know in advance that there will be more than 2 guests, I describe the space composition of the bathroom and kitchenette. I include information about new amenities such as the recently installed marble countertop and sink and picture window in the albeit small bathroom.

We are always looking to make our guests feel happy and cared for. With over 300 rentals in the past few years including our many return guests, we have an overwhelming history of satisfied customers. We rely on our guests to help us make that possible. Communicating during registration, including the number of guests and pets, will make for the best match of accommodations, provisions, and experience at Sea Ridge.
