Set in the village of Ansthruther on the Fife coast, looking over to Lothian and the North Sea, Arradoul is a wee gem of a place.
Across the street and a few yards down the road is the local corner store and the aromatic bakery where you can buy fresh morning rolls as well as delightful pastries and pies, which are typical of the area.
You are in walking distance to one of the best restaurants in Scotland - the award winning - The Cellar and the best fish and chip shop - The Anstruther Fish Bar, to which people come from miles around, where even Prince William had to stand in line for his Fish Supper.
This four star house is immaculate, clean and ready for you when you arrive. I want your stay to be as enjoyable as I would expect to find wherever I would vacation.

Living in California now, I was born and bred in Fife.
Heather purchased this house in 1989
My family purchased Arradoul in 1989 because we wanted a home away from home. We have many family members in Scotland and we enjoy visiting through out the year.
Arradoul is only a few minutes walk to the front (main town) and beach where you will find many restaurants and shops. A must is to try one of the most famous fish and chip shops in Scotland, The Anstruther Fish Bar. About a half a block away from our home is a small grocery store, The Corner Shop. Owner Christine Owen will help you find anything you may need. Across the street from the Corner Shop is Barnett's Bakery. Here you can find hot, fresh morning rolls fresh out of the oven.
We had a wonderful experience staying in Arradoul, this precious home in Anstrther, Scotland. It had everything four weary travelers could wish for. The home was immaculate, attractively furnished, comfortable, and roomy. The kitchen was well-supplied and the appliances were first-rate. We felt immediately at home and settled in without a hitch for seven relaxing, but busy days. The private backyard was perfect for morning coffee and breakfast breads and for a glass of wine in the evenings.
The location for the golfing husbands and the walking/hiking wives was perfect -- the Fife Coastal Trail, golf courses in all directions, excellent restaurants, historical towns, and St. Andrews (of course). We explored the towns of Elie, Pittenweem, Crail, Dysart, Wemyss, and Kelli Castle. The guys played Crail (2), Anstruther, Elie, Lunden, and Kingsbarns.
We found great restaurants in Anstruther and Cellardyke, within an easy stroll of the house. Finally, the Tourist I in Anstruther is excellent for all information about this lovely part of Scotland.
Arradoul is a lovely, spotless home in the charming fishing village of Anstruther, Scotland.
The information from the owners was very accurate and helpful. EVERYTHING is supplied in this home, including a cell phone and golf clubs!
We had such a wonderful time here. My husband is a golf fanatic and was able to use the house as a home base to golf several Fife courses including St Andrews Old Course and the very challenging Anstruther course.
We were able to walk around the village very easily. The locals could not have been more friendly and helpful (especially The Corner Store and the bakery).
We went to the Co-op for most basic supplies and food. It is located just a few blocks away and has everything you could possibly need.
We were able to cook a few meals "at home" in the very well equipped kitchen.
The few local restaurants we visited were great, and again, very friendly. We ate at the Anstruther Fish Bar for the BEST fish and chips ever, the Bank, the restaurant at the Anstruther Golf Course and The Larach Mohr pub in neighboring Pittenweem. We also went to St Andrews, just 7 miles down the road, for dinner at Little Italy.
On this trip, there were four of us traveling. Anstruther was the third of three weeks on the road.
The washer and dryer were such a welcome addition to our stay!
Arradoul is a warm, lovely home! We highly recommend it and hope to return one day.
Thank you so much for your hospitality!!
I first stayed at this lovely home in 1995. It was beautiful, comfortable, close to so many places of interest. I returned in June, 2012, and was delighted to see that it was even better, with a new kitchen and updated decorating. It is a short walk to the sea, with the best fish and chips in Scotland, many shops and restaurants. It is easy driving for sightseeing, and a short jaunt to St. Andrews by car or bus. The people are friendly and no one lets a little rain get in the way of a good time. I can't wait to go back at least one more time.
I stayed at Arradoul for one week. It was the perfect spot for us! Only a 10 minute drive to St. Andrews! We used the house as our home base and did day trips. It was wonderful to come home to a place we could call home sweet home for that short week.
The house was decorated well and very clean. All of the items that we needed (towels, linens, pots, pans, dishes, cutlery, etc.) were available and looked new. The kitchen was beautiful and all of the Scottish pottery was a perfect touch.
I will definately stay there again when visiting. Thank you so much for allowing us to rent your beautiful home!
This was a great place to stay, close to the ocean,St. Andrews, Edinbough and many wonderful historical sites. The house was great for the three couples we were with, plenty of room, nice baths, great kitchen and laundry area. We spent a couple days indoors because of rain and had a great time playing games and visiting. Fixed many meals in the spacious kitchen-oh yes, many cups of tea, also.
Had great dinners at the Fish & Chips Shop as well as the many local restaurant. Love the Haven Restaurant:nice people, great service and all within a short walk down to the harbor.
Would recommend this house to anyone that wants a truly hospitable Scottish experience in a great location
This is a lovely property. We had a peaceful week and felt that we were home when we returned each evening. The washer/dryer were a definate plus. Overall it deserves its high quality rating.
