Modica Villa Rental Photos and Description
Family Friendly Villa with Private Pool, Large bedrooms & children's playground
A trip to Sicily is unlike any other. At least when landing in our beautiful island, with the inevitable weight of the island's evocations, and one's own prejudices. As the best travel literature says, both aspects variously crop up, from the different and contradictory aspects of this marvelous country's complex cultural identity which us Sicilians love. Once a great anthropologist wrote: 'Comparison gives wings to the eyes; it takes us into space and lets us view the planet Earth from a new distance...If there were no Sicily, one would have to invent it'.
Villa Modica is five minutes by car from the centre of Modica. In March 2003 UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization)has acknowledged that the city of Modica and its surrounding areas to be added to the world heritage list for the baroque treasures it holds in its historic buildings and architectural design unique only to this part of Sicily, in Modica was filmed the renowned Italian TV series 'Inspector Montalbano' that's been showing on BBC3, the town built between two valleys and hills is known for its Baroque architecture, has restaurants, cafés, supermarkets and shops. Modica is also called the Positano of Sicily the town of Modica was so particular until the middle of the last century that it was called the second Venice of Italy: it is situated on the valley where two torrents merge into each other and there were a lot of large and small bridges to connect the zones of the lower area.
General Description: At the villa we have a secure full size play ground of 140 sq meters for the children to enjoy with lots of toys, plus 20 English TV cartoons channel...On January 2012 BBC 2 broadcast a TV series Sicily Unpacked,Episode 2 was filmed right here in Modica,Andrew Graham-Dixon and Giorgio Locatelli took part of this fascinating journey through Sicily, Andrew and Giorgio explored the legacy of Spain's 500-year occupation of the island and the influence this has had on art and culture. And it's not only art that is experiencing a resurrection on the island but agriculture too: the wine, that only 20 years ago was considered only good enough for blending vats on the continent, is now one of the most fashionable in Europe and is being exported all over the world. The Villa is located on a strategic point: this part of Sicily has an abundance of art, archaeology, history, breathtaking scenery and of course wonderful food to offer. You will certainly be inspired by the brilliance and beauty of the town, by the stunning, secluded beaches, tranquil vineyards, ancient olive groves. And you can also explore Mount Etna, the greatest volcano of Europe, Catania, a splendid city lying between Etna and the Ionian Sea, Syracuse, with its temples, its Greek Theatre and Roman Amphitheatre, and its Ear of Dionysius, Ragusa, with its traces of human settlements dating from as early as the 3rd millennium BC. Or, if you prefer something really breathtaking, why not go to Agrigento and see the Valley of the Temples?Anyway, the list of wonders that are waiting for you is too long to be written here. But Villa Modica is a perfect choice even if you just decide to indulge your senses spending lazy afternoons and suntanning..
