Not worth the price

We were last year in Kitty Hawk and for same size house we paid only 1/3 of what we paid for this one. Only that this one had an inground pool that the kids wanted it. Once we came in the pool was all dirty and no chlorine in it. We called management office three times but no action on their side. To not mention that the kitchen was full of ants, the bikes were broken and the gas grill didn't work. We were told to go and buy a tank as they do not cover for it. We will not use this office anymore. The owner should find a better manager for this property if he/she want happy customers.

Owner's Response: Owner's Response: I’m disheartened by this review. I’ve owned/rented this home for 10 yrs & have consistently upgraded the property throughout that time. I’ve actively solicited reviews from guests; this is the only truly negative review received. I’ve utilized the services of the prop.mgt.team referenced in the review for 8 years; as an absentee owner, it’s imperative I employ the services of an agency that is both responsible/responsive; heretofore, they’ve proven to be such a group. They’re located close to my home & have been vigilant in joining me in my efforts to ensure an enjoyable vacation experience for my guests. Regarding the issues in the posted review: the pool is a salt water pool--the chlorine is generated from salt rather than strong chemicals; I assume the “no chlorine” comment resulted from the lack of the usual strong chlorine smell that permeates a standard chlorine pool. I contacted my pool vendor; he said he cleaned the pool about 9 am Sat. (guest arrival day) & on Wed. for the midweek service. He said they had storms a couple weeks ago that may’ve resulted in leaves blowing into the pool but he never received a request to come back & re-clean the pool. Upon investigation, my prop.manager noted, “I don’t know who they called regarding the pool not being clean because we have no work orders in the system for the pool.” My manager said they were called by the guests on Mon. reporting there were ants in the kitchen & the grill didn’t work. He noted, “There is a work order regarding the ants and we did dispatch a vendor to take care of this the same day they called on 7/26/10.” Regarding the grill, he said, “As you know, we ask the guests to replace the gas for the grills, but again I have no information in our system about replacement gas, just that the grill did not work.” If guests produce a receipt for a tank refill, I’ve authorized my agents to reimburse them. I also provide a charcoal park grill for alternative use in such cases. Regarding the bikes, my managers were told for the first time they “were broken” when the guests checked out. All 4 bikes were brand new at the start of this season so my mgrs inspected & reported the "bikes are in perfect working condition & the grill needs gas" that they will reimburse. In sum, this is more than just a rental property to me: this is my home at the beach & I treat it accordingly; I view the families who choose to stay at A Pelican’s View as guests in my home & treat them accordingly.
