Jaca, now has become an important tourist resort and winter sports and adventure in the Pyrenees, but also boasts a remarkable monumental legacy that reflects the significance of its more than two thousand years of history.
It has the first Romanesque Cathedral of the country (s. XI), built to consolidate the city as a strategic enclave on the Camino de Santiago. It is considered one of the most important monuments of Spanish Romanesque art, recognized not only for its antiquity but also to present a personal synthesis between themselves and others, within the scope of the routes of the Camino de Santiago elements.
The citadel of Jaca is unique in its kind to be completely preserved and separated from other buildings throughout the world.
Jaca is a place renowned for its secluded squares, the authentic flavor of its streets and the proliferation of beautiful parks and recreation areas that emphasize their warm and friendly nature. The Paseo de la Cantera, which runs one of the branches of the Camino de Santiago on entry into the city, is perhaps the most relevant example. This beautiful journey of nearly two kilometers dotted with trees, offers unbeatable views of the Campo de Jaca.
A few kilometers from Jaca there are several areas and monuments of great interest:
