Excellent Place to Hang for a Week
We stayed at Villa Alice and had a most pleasant stay. Everything happened exactly as promised. This was my first time using VRBO and I was a bit concerned because some of the Villas want a 50% deposit up front. Villa Alice only asked for one night. That made me feel better from the start.
After we landed in Bali (the new airport will a beautiful addition to the area) I knew that if there was someone to pick us up at the airport as promised, that things would go well. If no one was there, we would be in trouble. Thankfully, our ride was there as promised. This was a very welcome relief after a long day of travel. It also gave us good reason to brush off the rather aggressive hucksters at the airport trying to commandeer our transport from the airport.
When we arrived at the Villa, everything looked EXACTLY as it did in the photos on VRBO. The place was huge (240 sq. meters for only two of us) and was spotlessly clean and well maintained. The amenities provided were exactly as described in the VRBO posting and our contact Stefani was very prompt and efficient about taking care of our booking. She even emailed me a few days before our scheduled arrival to make sure nothing had changed.
The staff were all very kind, likeable people who did their jobs well. We opted to have breakfast prepared in the Villa for us each morning and were happy we did. There was enough on the menu to keep us happy for the week. And it was so fresh and yummy. Really. Breakfast was a highlight each day because we knew it was going to be good and we didn't have to think about it. Just get up and sit at the table. They even cooked at different times if we arose at different times.
One of the really neat things about the Villa is that there is a service alley along the back of the Villa that the staff uses to enter and exit. This arrangement (brilliant design by someone) allows the staff to slip in and slip out, doing their work with out being intrusive and in most cases noticed at all. It worked well for us. The air conditioning was amazing. The TV had lots of channels. The limitless supply of fresh cool and hot water was a very nice touch too.
If I had a complaint it would be this: The driveway is about 500 feet long and the sign on the street is not lit at night and is very faded. People trying to find the place always got lost.
I am out of space to write, so in a word STAY HERE. We did and we are very happy and would recommend Villa Alice to others.
