My husband and I have had the distinct pleasure of vacationing at the beautiful Shore Acres Inne at Lamoine Beach on several occasions. The ambiance is quaint, comfortable and loaded with charm. It's locaton allows many alternatives for the scenic outdoors. Arcadia National Park is our favorite (hiking, scenic views everywhere) and don't miss popovers at the Jordan Pond Cafe!
CW and Marcia are the "host and hostess with the mostest." They did everything to be sure we were comfortable and helped us plan our days. Shore Acres Inne is a wonderful place to stay for a family or a group of good friends. We highly recommend this very relaxing accommodation that we thouroughly enjoyed. Hope to return soon!
Our family of seven just returned from our magical week in Maine, staying at beautiful Shore Acres. The location of the home was ideal for us - close enough to Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park/Ellsworth to make several trips, but far enough away to avoid the crowds of tourists. A short walk down the road to Frenchman's Bay for a beautiful sea view added to the ambiance. It was also a great launching off point to tour the rest of the coast of Maine. The home itself is charming and gave us a taste of history for the week. It fit our family very comfortably. The younger boys really loved the large back yard with tree swing and sand box with toys. One of the best things about our stay was having the chance to get to know the owners. They were simply lovely hosts and made us feel very welcome...even with our little boys running over to visit them frequently during the week! They told us interesting facts about the area, let us take a ride in their Model T Ford and enriched our stay in Maine. We are so grateful that we chose Shore Acres to be our "home" for the week.
Lamoine is a wonderful and very quiet part of Maine, away from the crowds in Bar Harbor but still only 40 minutes from Acadia.
The owners were very attentive and CW took time to ensure our needs were met despite not feeling 100% that week.
While the house could use a fresh coat of paint, it is very large and very comfortable. It offers a lot of great spots to read or play board games as well as an enormous yard with a fire ring that we took full advantage of.
We really enjoyed our stay at Historic Shore Acres.
This was our first trip to Maine and we found Shore Acres to be a great home with a lot of character. We had plenty of room both inside and out to relax after a busy day of site seeing. The home is clean and the owners are great to work with.
Shore Acres is in a great location to explore Acadia. We would highly recommend Acadia, Bar Harbor (and Lulu's Lobster Boat Tour), Schoodic Point, Penobscot Narrows Observatory Bridge and Fort Knox.
We would recommend Shore Acres to anyone who wants to have a unique experience in a historic home with all the amenities you would need.
What a great place! The house has a country feel to it and it's only a few steps from the beach. The Hemingways are wonderful people. We got to take a ride in the Model T and had a campfire one night. It was so quiet there even with the kids playing the huge back yard. Would love to visit again.
Having been back from year to year at the same time in August/September, we always look forward to the peace and quiet that surrounds the scenic pastoral setting known as Shore Acres.
Watching the sunrise at 5am down the road at the beach is breathtaking! The lush green backyard that overlooks the water
is the perfect place to sip a nice cup of tea and do my knitting or crotcheting....anytime of the day. We have been to the Fair, swam at the beach, shopped and dined in Bar Harbor, visited historic places,
met wonderful people, and just enjoyed the rural, old-fashioned
ambience of the simple life. The house is old, but so quaint and
comfortable. Nice bathroom, plenty of hot water for showers, and the
conveneint, well-equipped kitchen that meets all your cooking needs.
I swear that Lamoine has the corner market on good weather every single year we are there!!! Chuck and Marcia are the perfect hosts and so accomodating, and of course, when it's time to leave,we always experience the jolt to "reality" as we leave the "past" until the next time. We'll be back!!
There is a 'General Store' only a few miles away. Ellsworth is about 10 miles from the property. There are grocery stores, shopping malls, banks, an assortment of nationally known restaurants, as well as excellent local eateries and local specialty and large chain stores as well. Bar Harbor is approximately a 20 mile drive and Bangor is about 37 miles..
