There's privacy yet it is only a short distance (between 10 to 60 minutes) away from most scenic attractions. The Blue Ridge Parkway, National Forests and Parks, Grandfather Mountain, Mount Mitchell, Appalachian Trail on Roan Mountain, Penland School of Art, Parkway Playhouse (the oldest in NC), Emerald Mining Village, Lake Lure, Lake James, Linville Falls, Biltmore House in Asheville, Boone, Blowing Rock, Chimney Rock, Bat Cave, The Apple Orchard, Antique Shops, Local Artists (some of the best in NC), country music/dancing and so much more (rafting, hiking, golfing, horseback riding, fishing, etc, etc, etc)! WONDERFUL VISIT

We arrived and found the AlpenRose exactly as described. The view from the porch or out the window was exactly as shown. The owner lives in a nearby house and was available for all questions. The Little Switzerland area is a favorite of ours. We enjoy visiting in mid October to see the colorful leaves changing. It is close to Grandfather Mountain and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We hiked many of the trails and saw great views and enjoyed the cool weather. The Direct TV worked great and I was able to keep up with Glenn Beck in the lead up to the election.

Quiet Getaway

My husband and I wanted a quiet weekend away. Found AlpenRose on the internet the day before we were to leave. The photos and reviews were completely accurate. We had a wonderful time and look forward to returning for another visit in the future. We would not want to stay anywhere else.

Weekend Stay

I selected this house out of the blue having never been to this area. The kids had never seen mountains before so this was the perfect setting. The owners were great, very hospitable and very knowledgeable about the area and what to see. The views from the Mountain top are amazing and the local waterfalls are worth the hikes.
Make sure you bring your groceries and supplies, Little Switzerland rolls in the sidewalks around 4pm & local Walmart is about 25mins away.
Our only complaint is that we did not have enough time. We will be returning here many more times in the coming years.
Recommended for:  Pet-friendly, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

A beautiful quiet retreat

I spent Labor Day weekend reading and writing in this peaceful place. The space was beautiful and well-kept with everything a person could need. Having shared photos with my children, they are now asking to come with me "next time". And there will most certainly be a next time!

Cool Relaxation

Just sit on the deck and watch the changing light on the mountains while listening to the waterfall spill over the three pools in the garden. You can't get any more relaxed than that.

The chalet is just right. The bedroom has a comfortable king bed. A loft sleeps three and has its own half bath. The kitchen is roomy with everything you could possibly need to cook a great meal and the living room very comfortable. Everything is exceptionally clean.

Great tv reception and internet.

The chalet is centrally located with easy access to the Blue Ridge Parkway and feeder roads.

Best of all...the hosts, Linda and Bernie. Great company and always at the ready to assist with any need.

We are looking forward to going back next year!
