Overview

Scratby Bungalow Rental Photos and Description

2 bedroom bungalow with large conservatory

This detached bungalow is situated in a quiet close just 200 metres from the sandy beach and sea. There is a large conservatory at the rear of the property where you can sit and enjoy your meal whilst looking out over the south facing garden. The large living room has 2 comfy sofas with satellite TV and a lovely fireplace.

The kitchen is fully equipped to make this property a home from home.

The master bedroom has a king size bed and a triple door wardrobe space, as well as bedside cabinets.

The twin room has 2 single beds and for those extra guests there is a sofa bed in the 2nd living room which sleeps 2. The bungalow also has Wi-Fi included in the rental costs.

The property also has full central heating for those out of season breaks.

Bird watching: North Norfolk and neighbouring Suffolk have several bird watching reserves, with Breydon Water being only 5 miles away. The North Norfolk coast is within easy reach offering 4 miles of tidal foreshore and salt marsh with superb bird life. Brancaster Staithe Nature Reserve, Blakeney Point, Cley marshes, Wells and Hunstanton are just a few of the North Norfolk attractions for bird watchers and tourists alike.

About an hours drive away in Suffolk you will find the bird and nature reserve of Dunwich Heath and Minsmere Beach. This is a National Trust heathland conservation area with good walks and spectacular views.

Norfolk Broads: For a day out with a difference hire a Broads cruiser for a lazy day floating along the famous Norfolk Broads.. There are plenty of riverside pubs to stop for a refreshing lunch before continuing on your relaxing journey. If fishing, bird watching or even wind surfing is your thing, then the Norfolk Broads is the perfect place.

Places of Interest: With the popular seaside town of Great Yarmouth only 5 miles away there are too many attractions to list all of them. One of the closest is Caister Castle, a historic ruin which is home to a fine collection of Classic Cars. The award winning Time and Tide Museum in nearby Great Yarmouth is set in an old smoke house and offers a fascinating insight into Yarmouth’s fishing heritage. The city of Norwich is only 20 miles away, with superb shopping and both the Cathedral and Castle within walking distance of the city centre.

Southwold in Suffolk is a genteel seaside town with many individual shops and jewellers. It is famous for amber jewellery and one of the shops has a small amber museum.

Both in Southwold and elsewhere there are many fine restaurants to try, including a noted sea food restaurant in Great Yarmouth.

Finally a usable holiday property

  • 5 of 5

Very good base for exploring Norfolk and a short drive into Great Yarmouth.

Nice quiet cul de sac which saves on traffic noise.

Usually when we've had a holiday property with a conservatory it's been un-usable because of the cold but this conservatory has central heating and a secondary heater to give a boost and was a nice place to eat after a day out and first thing in the morning even though it was cold outside.

Nice big, deep comfy sofas in the lounge with a nice fire which makes it cosy.

All together a nice comfortable place and will definitely go back.

Also there are a couple of very good take a ways that deliver fish and chips etc that are very friendly and good if you dont fancy cooking, there is a large shop/post office a stones throw from the house which is very friendly and has plenty of choice.

TIME MACHINE

If you are looking for a peaceful base to enjoy this part of Norfolk you could not make a better choice than this. A spacious, clean bungalow with secluded garden that had everything I needed and more, including a good selection of books and DVD's. A quiet location, but only a few minutes stroll to the seafront, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. A previous review compared it to the Tardis and the fact that it seemed to make the week speed by seemed to show that it is capable of time travel as well.

The Tardis

We stayed In Nightingale Cottage over the Easter break to be close to family who live locally.

As a family with two growing teenagers ,flexible space was important and Nightingale cottage provided that.We renamed it "the tardis."

We enjoyed lazy breakfasts in the sunny conservatory, wonderful walks on the beach , just a stones throw from the bungalow, and relaxing evenings in the sitting room where there was a fabulous library of DVDs , games and books for all ages.

It was a wonderful surprise to find a welcoming pint of milk in the fridge and tea and coffee much needed after our journey .There was a local shop just 7 mins walk away that had all the basics we may have needed and a larger Tesco a couple of miles down the road.

Although most days we had snow ,the bungalow was warm inside for when we weren't out enjoying Fisherman's Return pub in the next village (great food). The Time and Tide museum in Gt Yarmouth and the seals on the beach at Horsey.

August 2012

We've had a lovely week in this well maintained, peaceful cottage in a very quiet part of Scratby. Everything is provided in the cottage and it is an ideal base to explore the surrounding area. The beach is a short walk away and the kids loved it. BeWilderwood was great as was The Motor Museum at Caister Castle. The highlight of our stay was the Adrenalin Overload Stunt show at Yarmouth stadium which was fantastic if you enjoy that sort of thing.
