pour une première essai réussi Très belle accueil de la part de Catherine Nous aurons sûrement l'occasion de revenir Encore merci
The apartment is lovely, Catherine is lovely, and an amazing location. It is a perfect location for a couple--or close friends as it only has one bed. The kitchen is stalked with all the basics and even coffee! All amenities that you need such as shampoo, etc are there. We truly enjoyed the apartment very much and while not only recommend it but try to stay again if we go. It is not a good fit for people who have trouble with stairs.
I am not sure that I want to write this review if it means that I will have a hard time booking this charming studio in the future.
If you are visiting Paris, you must stay here. I can't say enough about Catherine. She responded quickly to our inquiries, answered all of my many questions patiently, gave us perfect directions and was very punctual. She gave us a lovely tour of the studio, maps, directions and suggestions. The studio itself is ideally located. The price is great for the location. It's a perfect size for two people with a modern renovated bathroom and kitchenette. (Ask her to tell you the story of the building.) We were close to sights every tourist wants to see (e.g. The Louvre, Pampidou, Musee D'Orsay) but yet in a real Parisian neighborhood. This studio is in a charming neighborhood and is very close to several train stations. It overlooks a lovely courtyard which houses many restaurants and shops. The accommodations and quality of the apartment rival any 4 star hotel room. My only warning is beware of the stairs. If you are not comfortable climbing several flights of stairs, you will not be very happy. In Paris, the 1st floor actually begins on the second level since most buildings have first floor storefronts.
In summary, we truly enjoyed staying at this apartment. This is now where we will be staying every time we visit Paris if it is available. We fell in love with the charm of the city and this apartment made us feel like real Parisians. Merci Beaucoup, Catherine!
My husband and I had never been to Europe, let alone Paris, so it was imperative that I find a rental apartment that included a friendly, trustworthy owner - and with Catherine, that is certainly what we got. She answered all of my emails so promptly before our trip that I knew we had nothing to worry about.
I booked a shuttle from the airport and it made us almost two hours later than expected to meet up with Catherine for check-in. We communicated by text and phone and she was extremely accommodating. Shortly after we arrived at the meeting location almost next door to the flat, she was there to warmly greet us and assure us that it was no problem.
One thing to keep in mind, is that there are a total of five flights of winding stairs to reach the flat, which can make it tricky if you have a lot of luggage. Luckily, Catherine was there to help us with one of our suitcases and we all paused for a break after the third flight! (Lesson: Don't pack so much!) This really only lead to the charm of the place though, as Catherine informed us that these flats would have been the servant's quarters way back when the Louvre was still the royal palace. Once she let us into the apartment, we were rewarded for our climb with a gorgeous view through two large windows, of the Fontaine des Innocents in the square below. This view was really breathtaking at night. We considered those stairs a part of our daily exercise regime - and a good excuse to indulge in an extra French pastry - or two.
The flat is small, but perfectly laid out, clean and beautifully renovated. We agreed that the bed was one of the most comfortable we had ever slept in! It was warm when we visited, even for October, so we often had to throw the windows open to cool the place off when we got back from our adventures. A small fan would probably be good for the heat of the summer but the open windows did the trick for us. And when we closed them, you could hardly hear a thing of the sounds in the square down below. We slept very peacefully every night.
We did encounter one issue with the shower drain not working properly but I texted Catherine and she responded within the hour. She had someone there to fix it the next day.
The best part was the location. Le Centre Pompidou? Five minutes? Le Louvre? 10 minutes. And everything else was easy to reach by the VERY easy-to-use Paris Metro, at just a 2 min. walk.
We would highly recommend this lovely flat to all visitors to Paris! Merci Catherine!
This was our first trip to France and our first time leasing a vacation rental by owner flat. I must admit to some initial concerns both about communications, given our French skills are sadly lacking, and that the flat might not be as pictured or described. I had no need to worry! The flat was just as pictured and spotlessly clean. Our hosts were in contact prior to our arrival to welcome us and give us check in information. They even helped us with our luggage and showed us around the flat, ensuring we knew where to find what we might need and how to operate everything. Our hostess had thoughtfully provided coffee for the coffee-maker, along with sugar, powdered cream, an assortment of teas and some packaged foods and goodies, dishes, and cooking utensils, corkscrew, extra lightbulbs, a sewing kit, and other amenities. She included maps and recommended a lovely, old bakery not too far from the flat, with the best croissants I have ever tasted!
The very comfortable bed and modern casement windows muffling any outside sounds ensured a quiet, restful sleep. It was difficult to believe we were only a couple of minutes away from the main train station and in the heart of a bustling city. It felt as though we were in a quiet village. Occasionally, we would hear one of the neighbours, but no more than we would at a hotel or inn--or even back home in our own flat.
The location was excellent for exploring Paris by foot or by the train. The Louvre is only a short walk as were banks, shopping and cafes. Even the walk up the stairs was worth it--and was a good warm up for all the other stairways of Paris: to the trains, in the museums, to the top of Notre Dame, the Arc de Triomphe, and the Eiffel Tower. No wonder the people of Paris are in such great shape!
The view of the fountain from our window was lovely. We enjoyed just sitting at the table and enjoying a cup of tea or coffee and looking out the window at the people in the square around the fountain.
We are so happy to have found this lovely flat on VRBO and even more happy that it was available and Catherine entrusted it to us. Being able to stay there really was a wonderful start to our first visit to France and made such a favourable impression that we are recommending it to our friends, families and fellow travellers and would happily stay there again should it be available if we are fortunate enough to visit Paris again.
Merci beaucoup, Catherine!
This studio apartment was perfect for our honeymoon in Paris. It has everything you need! The bed is very comfortable. The kitchen is outfitted with all the necessary supplies. We really enjoyed the espresso pods, water bottles, and snacks available when we arrived from our long journey. The location is very convenient to walk to many of the Paris landmarks and also very close to the metro station. There was construction going on in the metro station which was a little noisy, but the windows are amazing and shut out the majority of sounds!
Catherine was amazing. She was very accommodating when our travel plans had unexpectedly changed and was able to get us into the apartment as soon as possible. I would definitely recommend this apartment!
