Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Lissa and Sade Management,

We truly are grateful and for all your help in making our family vacation at “Seaside Serenity” such a wonderful experience! (July 20-27, 2013). Reading around the house and the guest book confirmed for me that we were in exactly the right place. Our whole family was blessed many times during the week. We had come from weeks and weeks of rain everyday in North Carolina. Our week at the Isle of Palms was perfect weather! We saw beautiful sunrises every morning and watched a “full” moon rise up over the ocean. We even saw a brilliant rainbow stretching from the land into the ocean and to our surprise, on the last morning, we discovered a sea turtle had laid her eggs in the sand at the end of our boardwalk! That said a lot to us!!! We had ping-pong tournaments and family dodge ball in the huge backyard, using your water hoses to make our circle. Everyone from 3 to almost 70 joined in the fun and laughter.

I think we would all agree that the “Healing Porch” was our favorite area of the house. We enjoyed coffee early in the morning, almost all of our meals, and peaceful rocking at the end of the day out there. The beach has always been a place of peace for me. I had a precious brother who was lost at sea in 1981 and coming back to the ocean where he was taken out while setting a gill net and never found has always brought great comfort. Back then, I read somewhere a quote that said something like, “Ah, that sound of the sea coming in and going out, makes you know everything’s going to be alright.”

Thank you again for all your help. We appreciate everything so much, even the timely return of our security deposit.

We pray blessings upon blessings for you and Sade Management!

Perfect Location

  • 4 of 5
The location was perfect, and there were plenty of places to sleep for the 16 of us. We really appreciated having enough dishes, silverware, etc... Other than some missing lightbulbs and potholders that could use replacing, we really couldn't have asked for anything more. We especially appreciated the referral to the local food pantry for our leftover food. The location worked well for our visit to Charleston and the surrounding area. Thanks so much!

Best Get Away Ever!

  • 5 of 5
This house was awesome! Even though we went during the colder season we still had a blast hanging out in doors. It was stocked with board games, ping pong tables and Foosball table, cable and internet, the kids had there space and the adult stayed in the kitchen or on the porch. It was very clean and the kitchen had everything you could think of to cook a great meal! Even a big enough pot to do a crab boil which we did! I saw the light stains on the ceiling but I knew right away it wasn't mold and it had been cleaned. I never once saw a roach in the kitchen or anywhere else. The manager had her number on the counter to reassure us if something was wrong to call her she even called to check. I definitely will rent this coming year. GIRLS TRIP!!!

poor and disappointed stay

  • 1 of 5
This home, although the screened in porch and walkway to the beach are great, the quality of the home was not good!! There were stains, evidence of moisture/possible mold, as well as a musty/mildew smell in basement and under kitchen cabinet, the beds have no support, slant, and sag. The pillows are old & dirty, roaches in the house, slow draining tubs, and no response from maintenance- reported broken door handle that was never fixed while we stayed (leaving potential risk to tenants as well as owners property from not being able to be locked). Clearly there isn't owner visitation to the house or good standards set for making their tenants safe and healthy! Very, very disappointed! Owner contacted and given this information.

Owner's Response: This is very disappointing, as the owner ... and the ONLY "poor" one for the whole spring and summer season. The tenant gave me the information, but her call was weeks AFTER her stay. If only I had gotten the complaints while they were with us, I would have addressed them personally. I usually go out every Saturday during the summer season to oversee everything . I had not done this the week they arrived or 2 weeks prior. I asked the cleaning crew if all was ok, and they said yes.
No excuses, except my father was critically ill, in hospital for 10 days, and died in Hospice 4 days later.... prior to and during the responder's week at our home.
The moisture/ mildew (not mold) issue came from condensation from the air-conditioning being turned down to 62 degrees (probably all week prior, but for sure when the cleaners arrived the Saturday this family started their week. There were 4 areas on the 1st floor ceiling (approx. 6 inches X 2 feet) moist and grey colored, all due to the AC ductwork "sweating" inside the ceiling. It should have been cleaned with bleach and water, and the cleaner did not do this, unfortunately. This problem began this summer and can only be remedied by removing the ceiling, replacing ductwork, and new ceiling installed.... none of which can be done while the house is rented every week. It will be remedied this fall, when we have more than 3 days between renters. In the meantime, I am there every Saturday, assuring it is cleaned appropriately with bleach.
I am sorry if our beds are not firm enough. Our family of 14 people stayed in the house for 2 weeks in June, and NOONE had a problem with the beds. I slept in the Master Bedroom,( this was the only bed they thought was good).
Roaches? I am sorry because we have Terminix under contract for just this. My staff said neither excessive roaches, nor slow draining tubs were reported. The broken door handle was reported, but never as a safety issue. We DID NOT KNOW that the lock was affected, just the handle. According to my property manager, the renter did not seem upset about the handle, saying "they would just leave it on the mantle nearby."
I hate that our first time renters were so displeased. I offered them a free week, off season, with my guarantee of issues resolved.
REFRIGERATOR. This won't happen again, but I am sorry we disappointed this family.

Family Reunion Destination

  • 5 of 5
My family chose this as a reunion destination and we found it to be so wonderful we have agreed to plan for another vacation here in 2 years.
The house was large and clean, bedding was comfortable. The amount of sleeping accommodations were amazing. There was plenty of room for everyone. The beach decor was fun and everyone commented favorably on the beach sayings on the decorations all throughout the house.
We had Grandma & Grandpa, sisters and their husbands, cousins ranging is age from 35 to 16, and great grandchildren from age 15 to 5.
This house was great for interaction for all the ages. We played cards, did puzzles, played ping pong and spent lots and lots of time either on the beach or in the huge screened in porch.
The porch had a large amount of room and seating and every day a cooling breeze came through so the temperature was very comfortable.
We were worried about the temperature and humidity in SC during the month of July but found that if we got to Charleston in the morning to do our site seeing it was fairly comfortable. Back to the house for lunch and the beach or relaxing in the house in the afternoon and then dinner and spending the rest of the eve in the screened porch.
The teens found plenty to do without pulling out their phones too often.
We also were pleased at how close the house was to Charleston and the many things to do there.
In Charleston we walked to look at the old sections of town, took an evening "pirate" tour, took an "Eco" boat tour on the inland water way, and of course shopping at the market.
The beach was beautiful. Very clean and not crowded at all! It was just a short walk across the green lawn behind the house. You could walk for miles along this beach. Quite a few of us took early morning runs that ended up in the ocean to cool off. I got my teens up for a sunrise excursion and they were actually excited to witness the beginning of the new day.
The house has three showers outside on the ground floor. This was truly a blessing. I must say the bathrooms were limited for such a large house with so many people but with the showers outside it really alleviated that issue.
The kitchen size was moderate but we managed and found all the cooking utensils and pots and pans we needed.
Best Features: Can't say enough about the screened in porch and the easy access to a clean beach.

Perfect beach vacation!

  • 5 of 5
We enjoyed our family vacation at Seaside Serenity so much! My 88 year old mother did not want to leave -- my brothers and sister-in-laws thought maybe you could include "comes equipped with a grandma" in your amenity package!
The house was spacious and clean, plenty of room, though we spent much of the time when we were not on the beach rocking on the wonderful screened porch, watching the ships at sea.
The local fire department was kind enough to loan us a wheel chair so we could get mom to the deck at the top of the dune, as her walker would not do across the backyard. But we put up an umbrella for her and she was able to enjoy the ocean up close. Renting chairs and umbrellas from the company suggested by management was perfect, as they were set up every day and taken down for us at night.
The grill was great for steaks, and we found a seafood shop within walking distance where we got fresh shrimp. I searched a while for a local grocery store before learning it had gone out of business. But there is a Piggly Wiggly across the bridge, just 4 miles away.
We ate out a couple nights at the Boathouse and the Morgan Creek Grill, both just a short distance to drive. Excellent food and great water views. We had fun at dinner talking about all the little sayings and flip flops we found throughout the house.
Everything worked well, we we were not bothered by mosquitoes, as that was a concern after reading one review.
We all agreed that we would love to return!

Lovely place, great beach

  • 5 of 5
My wife, three children and spouses and 4 grandchildren loved this place. The house is very comfy and big enough for a large group and safe for small children. The beach is really one of the nicest we have seen. The only drawback were the mosquitoes which meant a dash for the beach and back. The screen porch kept them out so you can be outside. So if you cannot run then make sure you have some repellant. There are several great resturants and we especially liked Taco Mamacitas on Sullivan's island a short drive over the connecting bridge. The Marina to north also serves wicked good Fish Tacos.
