We spent our honeymoon in September 2002. We had a wonderful experience in this home. Everything they say about it is absolutely true, it is an amazing place to spend time. We highly recommed it to everyone.

PEACE AND QUIET

The house is beautiful but most of all we loved the peace and quiet, exactly what we were looking for. The neighbors across the street were very friendly and encouraging us to hike wherever we wanted. The people in Little Switzerland were also very friendly and the food we ate out was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed the decks and ate breakfast and lunch outside. We plan to return soon.

Heat wave horror

The view was breathtaking. The rooms were clean and as advertised. The problem was the heat. The "joke"in their instruction packet said that there was "natural A/C", an attic fan. There were fans in every room, but the "usual" temps for that time of yr should have been 70's -50's. It never got below 80. My wife & I had to "try" to sleep with ice packs on our foreheads & chests.The weather was not the owners fault, but, a house this nice should have air conditioning.My wife was too exhausted to do anything after the 1st day,a hike to the Falls. She never left the cabin after that.She could never get enough rest to be able to do any other hikes.We went to the mountains to get away from the heat!
At least the view beats anything in Houston.

I can't begin to describe what a beautiful and tranquil setting Hemlock Retreat looks out over. Seeing the mountains from your window and listening to the waterfall and creek outside were just what we needed! The kids had a wonderful time exploring the side of the mountain and the waterfall and creek were special favorites!! The Retreat is beautifully decorated and is perched on the side of the mountain! The treehouse feel makes it even more inviting. Gail and Gary are both extremely special people and made us feel like family- we will visit Hemlock Retreat again and again! Linville Caverns and Grand Father Mountain are must sees while you are there!! and the retreat location is only a 20 to 60 minute ride to just about everything you would want to see!!
