Rocky Falls Retreat

The house is beautiful but most of all we loved the peace and quiet, exactly what we were looking for. The neighbors across the street were very friendly and encouraging us to hike wherever we wanted. The people in Little Switzerland were also very friendly and the food we ate out was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed the decks and ate breakfast and lunch outside. We plan to return soon.

The view was breathtaking. The rooms were clean and as advertised. The problem was the heat. The "joke"in their instruction packet said that there was "natural A/C", an attic fan. There were fans in every room, but the "usual" temps for that time of yr should have been 70's -50's. It never got below 80. My wife & I had to "try" to sleep with ice packs on our foreheads & chests.The weather was not the owners fault, but, a house this nice should have air conditioning.My wife was too exhausted to do anything after the 1st day,a hike to the Falls. She never left the cabin after that.She could never get enough rest to be able to do any other hikes.We went to the mountains to get away from the heat!
At least the view beats anything in Houston.

We had a wonderful time. In 25 minutes you can be to many amazing hikes. We also enjoyed Sliding Rock a natural water slide. We also rode down the South Toe River in Kayaks, even our 4 year old loved it. Mt Mitchell hike was great, the restaurant there was so goo, try the peach cobbler. We also rode the Great Smokey Mountain Railhead. A neat geyser just outside Old Fort. Thank you!
