Overview

South Kensington Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Enjoy some top viewing from this 2 bed, 2 bath period flat in South Kensington

Through the turnstiles

Just two minutes’ walk from Exhibition Road lies a square so perfectly Londonesque, you’ll feel as though you’ve stepped into a painting. This is Stanhope Gardens, a square with a residents-only lawn at its centre, so mature it's practically a park.

The museums will surely supply you with all the entertainment you could possibly desire, but make sure you reserve a little time to stroll in Hyde Park, to shop on High Street Kensington and to eat out in the area’s many incredible restaurants. Could there be a better base from which to explore the city? We very much doubt it.

Curatorial unit

Your hosts are an Australian couple with two young children. They’ve lived in London for a number of years, and are now relocating down under. But, understandably, they’re not ready to say goodbye to Stanhope Gardens just yet…

Rare object

With its views of the Natural History Museum peeking through the treetops, Stanhope Gardens feels connected to the city, yet equally, tremendously at peace. When you’ve finished exploring the residents-only gardens in the square, step between the pillars of the front door and up the stairs to find yourself in a sumptuously spacious hallway. The décor is smartly luxurious, reminiscent of that of a rather good hotel. With its suede couch, classic furniture and marble fireplace the sitting room is gently neutral, while the high spec kitchen provides all you need to fix yourself up a sustaining breakfast before a day on your feet.

The two double bedrooms both boast lovely London views and some excellent artwork- make sure you look out for a pair of Banksy prints. The master has snazzy slate grey en suite, while the guest double is just down the corridor from the pale family bathroom. Both, naturally, filled with our delicious White Company toiletries.

Exit through the gift shop

From the Babylon Roof Gardens to the Serpentine to Harrods, Kensington is, quite simply, a London visitor’s paradise. The museums are free, which is good news for those planning a spree in nearby Harvey Nichols, and, for your groceries, why not check out Europe’s largest branch of Whole Foods? All this, and you’re right in the heart of zone 1, with the West End less than fifteen minutes away.

Stanhope Gardens Review

  • 5 of 5

We found this rental through the One fine stay website, and were extremely pleased with the rental service, the facility and the price. The onefinestay staff were incredibly helpful in narrowing our search, and the description proved remarkably accurate and clear. There were no surprises! The two bedroom apartment was well cleaned, beautifully maintained, and the kitchen particularly was well appointed, with nothing one would want missing. The bedrooms, while listed as "small", in fact were more than adequate. The location in South Kensington, fronting on Stanhope Gardens and within two minutes of the Gloucester Road tube station, was just excellent. Given the high quality of the apartment, the ever helpful staff, the choice location, and the fact that we were renting for less than a full week, we found the price extremely reasonable.

Without doubt, we would rent this particular property again, recommend it wholeheartedly to friends or colleagues, and certainly use the agency again if our requirements changed. They are just an outstanding group!

Notes:
A welcome back will be provided on arrival and an iphone will be available for you during the duration of your stay. Home Truths: Both bedrooms are fairly small doubles. However, the living rooms are spacious, and with a location this good, we suspect you might not even notice.. The hot water supply for this home comes from a tank, and whilst this is not normally a problem, it could cause issues if the home is full and everyone likes long showers. This home will have scaffolding up from mid August until early December. Works will commence from 9am and finish at 5pm. This should not be disruptive to the guest stay. There will not be access to the communal garden from October 3rd until the end of November.
