Seventh Heaven

Finding a quiet, tree-lined block in the middle of bustling Murray Hill is nothing short of a miracle. Brownstones dressed with gas lit lamps and trailing ivy congregate here, seemingly untouched by time. In the middle of this sun-dappled street, a former rectory remains standing in its entire Gothic splendor. Inside, paradise on earth: two bedrooms and four bathrooms spread out over three floors of ample space. It’s enough to make you sing hallelujah.

Preaching to the choir

Your hosts are a high end real estate broker and a mergers & acquisitions lawyer who took a leap of faith to become a bona fide New York power couple.

Chapter and Verse

The entryway is graced with earthly treasures from exotic locales: an intricately carved wooden console and loveseat, an opulent silk rug, and paintings of an Eastern deity and Indian village women. With a generously sized kitchen hewn out of stone, steel and wood, cooking is a pleasure from the first to the last supper. Abundant light spills through the Gothic lancet windows, illuminating the scarlet-hued living area.

Walk down the spiral staircase to the lower level, to find a space devoted to fun. A cozy den with a flat screen television is the perfect spot for curling up with a divine comedy. A rainbow of hues lights up the guest room through the tinted windows, like modern-day cathedral stained glass. On the ground floor, retreat to the master bedroom, where milky walls and warm wood furniture create an atmosphere of monastic serenity. The master bath, beautifully done in marble, is the perfect spot for washing away your cares and coming out feeling reborn.

Devil may care

Enjoy a porterhouse under the vaulted ceilings of Wolfgang’s Steak House, or break bread (then dip it into the fondue du jour) at Artisanal. Make a pilgrimage to the area fondly nicknamed Curry Hill, where the best South Asian cuisine in the city can be found. Should you want to lose yourself in other-worldly cares, the Kips Bay movie theatre is just around the corner.     Our normal check-in time is 16:00 with check-out being any time before 11:00. However, you are very welcome to drop your bags at the home any time after 12:30 or an early check-in can normally be arrange at additional cost.
  • A pre-auth will be taken on a card on arrival as a security deposit.
  • Cancellation Policy

    No-quibble cool-off period. Provided you book more than seven days before the start of your stay, you can cancel your booking no questions asked within 24 hours of making it, and we will refund 100% of any charges.

    Early cancellation. If you cancel earlier than 2 weeks before you are due to arrive, we will charge you 50% of the cost of your stay.

    Late cancellation. If you cancel within 2 weeks of your stay, we will try to offer the home to someone else. If we are successful we will offer a partial refund of the cost of your booking (less our admin charges).
