My heart will go on
It’s so very easy to fall in love with this home. Perhaps you’ll fall for the elegant garden square location, close to grand museums, sunny cafes, and the timeless beauty of Kensington Gardens. Perhaps it’s due to the majestic Victorian building, with the large rooms, the high windows and the honeyed wood floors. Or perhaps it’s the deceptively simple modern décor that’ll leave your head fizzing. Stunning colour, texture, and some adorable art put the romance in this home.
It’s got to be you
Your hosts are a young, recently married couple, enjoying the start of their new life together. Settled they may be, but the excitements of their romance continue. She’s taking lessons in French, while he’s composing serenades, as might anyone who stays here.
The way you look tonight
This home occupies the top two floors of the building, and the views will leave you breathless. The main living space is to be found upstairs, where you’ve a shiny chrome kitchen with a handy breakfast bar and a dining table that seats eight beneath an angled ceiling. Whisper your sweet nothings on one of two soft sofas, or take your loved one out onto the balcony for a clinch under the night sky.
Downstairs the sitting room, with its theatrical purple sofa and cowhide rug, can be converted into a handy extra double bedroom. Or keep it as is and enjoy the books, the leather chairs and the antique piano. The guest double is pale and pretty, sharing a useful family bathroom filled with fluffy towels and our White Company toiletries. The spacious master bedroom holds a Japanese bed, and next door in the glamorous ensuite, look out for the light-up bath.
What the world needs now
Kensington’s a wonderfully romantic place. Take a boat out on the Serpentine, see the birds and the bees at the Natural History Museum, or sip champagne at one of the many local candlelit restaurants. You can buy almost anything on Kensington High Street, from a box of fine chocolates to a dozen red roses, or strut your stuff in town. The tube from Gloucester Road to Piccadilly Circus takes ten minutes.
