Will and Kate have moved in nearby, and it's not hard to see why. The roads are wide, the houses gracious, and the lush expanses of Kensington Gardens are close. Notting Hill has a vibe that's reminiscent of NY's East Village. Here you'll find one-off boutiques, neighbourhood restaurants, and a world famous antiques market.
If you're used to hotels and want a little five star living, yet with all the privacy of your own front door, then you're in exactly the right place. The decor in Palace Gardens 2 is simple yet opulent, unfussy, and beautifully high spec.
Your hosts love their London life. He's a property expert, who has renovated his home from top to bottom. Since then he's been joined by his partner, a communications director, and their adorable new baby daughter.
Palace Gardens 2 occupies the lower ground floor of a white-walled Victorian townhouse. From the outside it's utterly traditional, however, once you're through the front door, things take a more modern turn. You'll notice the motion sensor lighting, and some exciting contemporary artwork in the hall. Move through to the open plan kitchen and sitting room with its trendy leather sofa and concertina doors onto the garden. This is a geek's paradise, with a sonos sound system and a large TV, complete with a hard drive packed with movies.
Down the corridor, the master bedroom holds a king-sized bed, an internet connected TV and a mirror walled en suite, while next door there's a cosy guest double. But before you turn in, make sure you check out the garden. Here, you'll find a large table facing onto a gleaming water feature, just waiting for a dinner al fresco. When darkness falls, flick on the outdoor lighting, and if the evening grows chilly the parasol has built in heaters!
