A traditional cobbled mews of the 1860's with romantic Victorian charm
The big idea
At one end of a traditional cobbled mews, this 1860’s home pulses with romantic Victorian charm, from the sash windows, to the upper rooms’ slanting, stable-esque roof. The surrounding area packs an equally piquant punch, with the likes of Kensington Palace, Chelsea Harbour and Hyde Park all close by, while for sartorial splurges galore, the iconic King’s Road is within an easy saunter. Surrounds explored, return to this three bedroom, three bathroom sanctuary, find your page in favourite book – Charles Dickens or William Thackeray, perhaps – and relax, before slipping into a sound slumber.
Yours hosts are a yoga teacher and a management consultant, and together they’ve turned Coleherne Mews into a picture perfect pied-à-terre for themselves and their teenage brood. They love the surprising quiet, in contrast to the cosmopolitan bustle nearby, and their kids adore the local shopping and nightlife.
A thing of the vast
Step through the entrance door onto the natural stone tiles that run throughout- hinting at your hosts’ no-expense-spared approach to décor. In the kitchen, pull up a black leather stool around the breakfast bar, and admire the luxe, 70s-style dark wood that lines the walls, interrupted only by high-end chrome appliances. The worktops are Corian, the dining table seats six, and the walls are peppered with striking, colourful modern art. Head up the glass and wood staircase to explore the large sitting room, where a huge L-shaped sofa provides an impressive vista of the flat screen television, and a muted colour palate exudes a sense of space and calm.
Across the hallway the master bedroom's king-sized bed is crisp in our White Company linens, and the ensuite well stocked with our fluffy white towels. Admire your refection in the huge chrome mirror, wiggle your toes on the heated bathroom floor, or head upstairs. You’ll find a spacious double ensuite with a fitted bath, as well as a further twin room and a high-shine shower room.
There’s a massive array of cultural delights on your doorstep here- visit the Natural History Museum or the Science Museum, then satisfy your shopping sprite on High Street Kensington, Fulham Road or in Knightsbridge. Get to central London in just fifteen minutes via Earls Court underground station, just a four minute walk away.
