Camden Town House Rental Photos and Description
Three Bedroom Georgian Townhouse With A Private Garden In Arty Camden
Primrose Hill is one of the loveliest London villages, a cute, and very affluent little hideaway right next to Regent’s Park. While Camden, on the other hand, is a red-hot mass of seething creativity. And right between the two sits Gloucester Crescent 2. Indeed, there’s something of both areas in this family house. The décor is traditional and homely, the furniture, comfortable and refined. Look closer, though, and you’ll see that the bookshelves are filled with political tomes, and the garden’s just a little bit wild. So get out your pad and pen, for this is a home that simply begs for superlatives.
Your eloquent Canadian hostess is a freelance journalist, and she spent a number of years as a legal editor on a leading broadsheet newspaper. If she’s not at her (antique) desk, you’ll find her in her second home in Newfoundland.
Something to write home about
If you want to closet yourself in the attic, you can – with sloping ceilings, a king sized bed and views out into the gorgeously tangled garden below, being a recluse is rarely such a pleasure. There’s also a reading room, where you’ll find a writing desk, a comfy sofa and plenty of books. When your work is done, emerge to find a large daffodil yellow sitting room, with high ceilings and all manner of original Georgian features.
The modern eat-in kitchen’s large and bright, with doors opening out onto the garden, and dining space for six. There’s a single bedroom and a family bathroom. Then, an ode to English romance in the form of the master bedroom. The king sized, antique brass framed bed, pastel green walls, and ensuite with a roll topped bath will leave you in raptures.
You’ve a choice – do you head for the bakeries and bijoux boutiques of Primrose Hill, or do you join the punks parading through Camden Lock? Either way you’re likely to spot all sorts of creative types tapping away at their macbooks in the cafes and hip bars. Camden Market is the top destination for handcrafted gifts and vintage clothing, you’re close to London Zoo, and if your prose needs a little extra inspiration, take your notebook to Regent’s Park’s rose garden. The tube from Camden Town to Leicester Square takes nine minutes.
