Brighten Your Days In This Sun-Kissed Two Bedroom Townhouse In Holland Park
West Coast cool
Amidst the leafy streets and hidden parks of Holland Park are some homes that make even the most casual passers-by feel as if, for a moment, they’ve stepped from the mundane to an exotic dream. First amongst these visions of loveliness is Caranday Villas. Not for nothing have your hosts’ children nicknamed it Miami. For with its tropical feel, soaking up the atmosphere in this two bedroom, two bathroom townhouse is like taking a holiday far overseas.
Your hosts originally hail from Yorkshire- a region not traditionally known for its warm weather, so here perhaps, is the inspiration for Caranday Villas’ tropical theme. He’s an investment banker and she’s a photographer, and his grown up children are regular visitors. In their spare time they’re focused on the sporting life, enjoying activities such as skiing, tennis and shooting.
Reach for the sky
There’s a constant sense of brightness and space throughout Caranday Villas, leant, no doubt, by the central shaft that runs through the building, flooding in light from a large glass panelled skylight at the top. The open-plan ground floor sitting room benefits most from this, where light dapples on the creamy suede sofas, and plays over the glass-fronted working fireplace. The modern kitchen with a big gas hob oven leads directly off it, and there’s a table directly under the skylight for entertaining. Head upstairs to the luxurious master bedroom, with a large comfy bed, swanky touch-response bedside lamps, and ensuite shower room with wet room shower. Along the corridor, the pale and chic second bedroom is a twin, with a high backed button headboard, desk and TV. The second bathroom is resplendent in blue and bursting with our White Company goodies. But before turning in, head up and check out the rooftop terrace, the jewel in the crown, complete with suntrap, table and chairs, and even a barbecue.
Shop til you drop
Notting Hill’s famously trendy boutiques and cafes are a short walk away, as are the peaceful green spaces of beautiful Holland Park, with its serene landscaped paths, coy carp, and peacocks. Nearby Westfield offers virtually everything under one roof- from shops, to bars, to restaurants, while Oxford Circus is a twelve minute journey via the tube from Shepherd’s Bush or Holland Park.
