Highgate House Rental Photos and Description
Cholmeley Crescent, an enormous home in leafy Highgate
Toys r us
If you’ve children, then you’ll know a true family home the very second you lay eyes upon it. Sharp edges have been smoothed away, colours pulse with warmth, the walls bustle with photos and cheerful artwork, and, perhaps most importantly of all, there’s oodle upon oodle of space.
And so it is with Cholmeley Cresent, an enormous home in leafy Highgate, with beds for up to ten, the most lavish of toy boxes and even a trampoline at the end of the garden. You’re only in zone 3, but so quiet is the area, you’ll feel very far away from the urban grind. Yet, fear not, for whether it’s a trip to the (free!) museums, or a whirl on the London Eye, central London is only twenty minutes away.
Come one, come all
Your host works in the field of law, while your hostess concentrates her energies on raising their two boys. And, aged, four and six, they’re certainly giving her plenty to do…
You’ll approach Cholmeley Crescent via a steep driveway, leading into a decidedly impressive hall. Turn right into the formal sitting room, where you can recline on the chocolate leather couches and have a flick through the Sky tv, or simply read quietly in the sunshine that streams in through the large bay window. At the back of the house, you’ll find the extended kitchen diner and TV room, all with doors opening out onto the garden, and toasty underfloor heating. There are books everywhere, the appliances are high spec, and the specially sourced white patio tiles mean that the dining room appears to melt seamlessly into the garden.
A wide staircase takes you to the first floor and the large, neutral master bedroom, while next door you’ll discover a recently refurbished bathroom, in cream and cherry red. Also on this floor is a playroom, a single boy’s room, and a sweet kids’ room with wooden bunk beds. There’s a further guest double on the top floor, and another useful bathroom.
Highgate village is right on your doorstep, and that means an abundance of neighbourhood restaurants, ancient pubs, grocery shops and delis. Walk over to Hampstead Heath, or take a guided tour of Highgate Cemetery. And if it’s the centre of town you’re after, the northern line will whisk you there in less than twenty minutes.
