Chiswick & Hounslow House Rental Photos and Description
4 bedroom, 3 bathroom spacious home with garden in Ravenscourt Park
Nature and nurture
Whisper it quietly, and approach with care, for this is a home that’s as rare as it is lovely. Pretty as a peacock, voluptuous as a lioness, and airy as the widest savanna, this is a magnificent beast of a house, with history, space and even a vegetable patch. Your brood have space to flap their wings, while you enjoy a stay in one of the most tranquil corners of the city. Opposite a park, near the Thames and a fifteen minute walk from Westfield shopping centre, you’ll be remembering this encounter for years to come.
Your host makes wildlife documentaries, while your hostess recently swapped a career as a journalist for a new calling as an English teacher. They and their two children can’t get enough of the great outdoors. When they’re not racing around their garden they’re playing cricket and going for bike rides along the river.
Upstairs, through twists and turns, there are four bedrooms- a master double, a double, a single and a double/ twin- to discover. The master bedroom has a super king-sized bed, floor to ceiling windows and views down into the vast garden below. At one end of the room an enormous tub is bathed in light, so watch the kids play outside from beneath a luscious coating of bubbles. The second double shares those garden views, and its ensuite is filled with animal art. Then there’s a family bathroom, a sky blue single filled with toys, and an airy twin.
Downstairs, the space is huge- both full of nooks and crannies, and open plan space. The eat-in kitchen’s a rustic delight, with an Aga, a separate hob, a pantry and doors out onto the terrace. Further along, the living space with a marble table seats six, alongside three sofas and more doors out onto the garden. There’s a second sitting room, with a fireplace, a Playstation and a Wii, and for shyer creatures, a quiet reading room, with an antique desk and a comfortable sofa.
And best of all is the garden. Over 180 feet long, this is a miniature meadow that speaks of picnics, games, and hours spent lounging in the sun. There’s a ping-pong set, a cricket net and bicycles. And as the sun goes down and appetites sharpen, tame your cubs with food fresh from the BBQ.
Nearby Chiswick High Street’s filled with all sorts of shops, cafes and bistros, or amble down to the river, where you’ll find quaint watering holes aplenty. Magpies must visit Westfield, the second largest shopping mall in Europe, with not just boutiques, but cinemas and restaurants, too. Or, migrate into town, the tube from Stamford Brook to Piccadilly Circus takes less than twenty five minutes.
