Gramercy Park Apartment Rental Photos and Description
Warm and stylish 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom haven on a leafy downtown street
The Age of Innocence
The historic district of Gramercy Park is an epicentre of venerable charm, with old-growth trees, landmarked brownstone townhouses, quiet side streets and one of only private parks in New York City. But this warm two bedroom haven, along a leafy street straight out of an Edith Wharton novel, is just a ten minute walk from the restaurants and bars in the East Village, and just a few blocks east of the shops of the Flatiron District and the farmer’s market at Union Square.
A Newcomer Turned Local
Your hostess recently relocated from Ireland to New York to work at an innovative hospitality start-up, so she knows how to make visitors feel quickly at home. With a newcomer’s enthusiasm, she has decorated her apartment with photographs of the city’s architecture and storefronts. She shares with her visitors the best guides for the adventurous traveller to the city, along with her personal Baedeker: she has collated her discoveries in the neighbourhood into a collage of business cards on one wall, annotated with her favourite recommendations for everything from cupcakes to cocktails.
This is the apartment of a connoisseur of original finds, who adores browsing antique shops and the Brooklyn Flea for unique décor. The living room forms the centre of the space and sets the theme of clean white walls, exposed brick, and wood floors, all accented with splashes of bright colour, like the eye-catching red of a CB2 sofa, the azure of the dining set and the green of a lantern.
After a day in the bustle of the city, wind down for a quiet evening with a game of backgammon in the living room. Retire to the clean haven of the master bedroom, which has an antique chest of drawers for keeping your wardrobe organized in style. The second bedroom has a single bed and a door to a sheltered back garden.
From the Farmer’s Market to the Flea Market
Spend a Saturday like the neighbours do: begin with a mimosa and an omelette in one of the area’s sidewalk cafes, then wander to Union Square to taste the blueberry crop at the summer greenmarket or for crafts. Catch a matinee play at the Public or Gramercy Theaters or visit the bookshops and boutiques of the East Village. For dinner, David Chang’s Momofuku Ssam and Michael Anthony’s Gramercy Tavern are an easy stroll from home. End the night with a bang at a local club (a Patti Smith concert at Webster Hall?), or absorb the city’s glitter with a Manhattan on the rooftop of the Gramercy Park Hotel.
