CHARMING VICTORIAN COTTAGE ON THE ISLE OF PORTLAND

Portland Cottage Rental Photos and Description

3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, sleeps 5

A charming Victorian Portland stone cottage located in the conservation area of Easton Village, Portland, within a very short walking distance to the local shops, cafés and pubs. The property been thoroughly renovated but still has many character features including a solid wood burner, stripped wooden floors and exposed stone walls. It includes a luxury bathroom with roll top bath and large ‘walk in’ shower. In addition both double bedrooms have en-suites.

The Isle of Portland is south of Weymouth and is the most southerly point in Dorset. Famous for its stone and Chesil Beach, today the island is also renowned for its wildlife and water sports. Portland Harbour is the location for the National Sailing Academy and hosted the 2012 Olympic Games Sailing events. It is one of the Gateway Towns on the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site.

Easton Village, situated at the top of the island, is the main hub of the Island’s activities. There is a village square with a children’s play area, a variety of shops, cafés, pubs and art galleries. Seafood is a speciality in many of the restaurants and cafés on the isle. Traditional home cooked pub food can be found a short walk from the house and elsewhere on the island.

FAMILY ESCAPE TO PORTLAND

  • 5 of 5
Nowhere better than Portland to escape the routine. With its quaint lost in time feel my family had a great time in this charming house in Easton. You walk out the door to be met by a tea house, 10 meters further on, the village square with play park and big old clock provided. The house itself breaths with character, the Portland stone walls perfectly mixing with the wood of the floor on the ground floor, a modern kitchen with all mod cons, followed by stairs that lead you to cosy and clean rooms on the two floors above. The main bathroom is a treat with its "legged" bath , spacious shower and blue "stars" lighting. The house makes a great base to go on adventures in the surrounding area; dinosaur hunts, bird watching , climbing light houses, walking around the coastline, swimming in the sea , running around with the kids and generally just having a whale of a time

A COSY HOLIDAY COTTAGE

  • 5 of 5
We loved the cottage which has been skilfully modernised and lavishly equipped. We loved the village of Easton with its friendly inhabitants. We loved the Isle of Portland with its cliff-top walks - we walked down to Portland Bill and back along the cliffs on the other side. We loved Dorset and were fascinated by our visit to the Dorset Museum in the middle of Dorchester (Rocks, Romans & Railways). We walked from Ferrybridge (which is by Chesil Beach (and near the Crabhouse Café)) to the middle of Weymouth via the Rodwell Trail, which makes a first class walk (with an excellent surface) along the old railway line. We loved Weymouth especially round the Harbour.
We are looking forward to making a further visit - one week was not enough to take it all in.....and to visiting the rest of the Dorset Coast.

A BEAUTIFUL HOLIDAY COTTAGE

  • 5 of 5
We have just returned from a fantastic 4 night stay in this lovely, cosy cottage. On arrival the spacious and well laid out house was very clean and it has everything you need for a comfortable stay including a well equipped kitchen.
The location is perfect with pubs, shops, etc within walking distance.A short drive away is Portland Bill which is well worth visiting( especially the Lobsterpot Cafe with their delicious home made scones).
We visited Dorchester,Weymouth, Monkey World and The Tank Museum. All well worth a visit.

This cottage is suitable for anyone wanting a relaxing break away.

SCHÖNES HAUS, TOLLE UMGEBUNG

  • 5 of 5

  • 5 of 5
