Cathy Manchester purchased this cottage in 2002
I have been selling real estate in Maine since 1996. When I walked into this cottage in 2002, I fell in love with it the moment I stepped inside! It is the most peaceful and relaxing place I have ever been. Summer days sitting on the porch smelling the roses and watching the waves... evenings sitting in from of the fire or around the campfire, and falling asleep to the sound of the surf! Absolutely amazing! It is terribly difficult to do anything other than RELAX here!
We are so close to the water that during a storm you might feel the waves reach the porch! There is a wonderful corner store/breakfast place just a minutes walk away and two restaurants within walking distance. You will feel like you are the only house on the beach..... and you are!
This beach house exceeded all expectations! We planned a birthday celebration stay at this oceanfront house and it couldn't have turned out better, all thanks to the perfect location! The walk to the beach was literally a hop and a skip!! The house was decorated beautifully with props of a beach theme. We got to rise with the sun, and observe the beautiful low tide first thing in the morning. It was beautiful and an absolute blast!
We loved this cozy home right on the ocean! Our favorite parts: my kids, aged 7 & 9 spent the whole time combing the beach for "treasures." Cathy, the owner, was awesome. We loved the hammock on the porch and the couch by the window - both perfect for reading. The kitchen was fully stocked and had everything we needed to cook - even the night we boiled our own lobsters. The town of Saco was just far enough away that we felt like we were off the grid, yet we could go grab a beer at a local pub or get groceries whenever we wanted to. We would definitely go back again and recommend it to all our friends. Try the Clamshell Cafe for breakfast and keep an eye out for sand dollars - the beach was loaded with them!
It is truly the best spot of all, wish it was a little bigger as my family is growing and we really loved it there. We woke up every morning and headed directly outside and on the beach with our coffee mugs. Our routine consisted of beach all day, showers and then off to OOB or ogunquit or kittery or York for the evening.
