Pine Point is still an active fishing, lobstering and clamming village. The beach is perfect for surfcasting, swimming and sunbathing. There are no drop-offs and the surf is usually very tame - this is a very child-friendly beach. The area offers many lobster pounds and seafood restaurants. Local activities include deep sea fishing, whale watching, amusement and water parks, golf and tennis.

Also nearby is a large salt marsh and nature preserve offering scenic canoe and kayak trips. Within a 15 minute drive is Portland with its many fine restaurants, museums, galleries and historic Old Port. Within 30-40 minutes are the outlets of Kittery and Freeport (LLBean) and picturesque villages of Kennebunkport and Ogunquit.

Cozy, clean, rustic cottage by the sea!

Submitted: October 29, 2011 Stayed: October 2011
My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon in mid-October. We didn't know exactly what to expect but this was absolutely wonderful. The listing description is right on, there are two bedrooms each with two twin beds - you must bring your own linens but the covers on the beds are clean - very cute & rustic Maine cabin-y. The kitchen is very clean, small but big enough for a few people (and maybe 2 kids), has a little microwave, a very nice, clean fridge, a little kitchen table with 2 stools, a stove, a coffee maker & plenty of dishes & pans to use. Again, very clean and lovely. Everything looks very well cared-for and lovingly placed. The inside is all wood with rustic Maine decor - if you're expecting posh rooms with painted drywall and framed paintings, this is not your place - it is more earthy in a clean and cozy way - real Maine. There is a cute little fireplace that you can use - and we did have some wonderful fires in it! The heat is electric and just fine - turn it down when you leave for the day. Proximity to the beach is amazing - maybe a 15 -second walk down the tiny street. The yard is small but who needs it, with the beach seconds away? You have to put your trash into the bin outside & leave it for the truck, and clean up after yourself before you leave - basic thoughtful behavior for any guest. The owner is friendly and very nice. The cottage is behind a bigger rental house (same owner) and close to other houses; so it is not isolated, but just a nice part of the little neighborhood. The owner has left a binder with lots of useful information under the living room table, even with local restaurant descriptions & personal reviews. Priceless!!
For those not familiar with this beach, it is the most quiet one I have ever known, even in the midst of summer. There can be many people on it during the summer season, but it's not obnoxious like other beaches can be. I've been coming to this beach for almost 40 years and have rarely dealt with obnoxious people (ie. loud music, partying, general bad behavior, etc.)

We will be back, and can't wait! It was tough to leave, we loved this little gem so much.
