This unique property sits right on Front Street just on the edge of Wilmington’s beautiful historic district. It’s just one block away from the shops and café’s of bustling downtown Wilmington and within view of the Cape Fear River.

The apartment is the lower unit of an upstair/downstairs duplex. It measures 900 square feet with two bedrooms, one bath, a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and a stackable washer and dryer. There is off street parking for guests. You can be completely self-contained, cooking your own fresh local seafood or stroll to many of Wilmington’s best restaurants within blocks.

You are right up the hill from the riverfront favorites of Chandler’s Wharf, The Pilot House and Elijah’s. You will be 20 minutes drive from Wrightsville Beach, 30 minutes from Carolina Beach and 45 minutes from the beaches of Brunswick County. So take your pick and enjoy a day on the beach. Then come home to enjoy downtown Wilmington’s legendary nightlife. And you will not have to bother with a cab ride home; you are already there.

Of course there’s golf and the battleship. There is the Henrietta II and the water taxi. There are horse drawn carriages and policemen on horseback. There are rooftop bars, basement bars, sofa bars, sidewalk café’s, riverside café’s, sushi, etc., etc. But I am guessing you knew all that already. So it is all here for you to enjoy and then return to a quite comfortable place to relax and recharge for another day.

This rental is welcoming, complete, clean and convenient. Look out your front door and see the Cape Fear one block away. Relax in the comfortable beds and living room furniture. Chill with the hi-def big screen TV. Prepare your meals in the small, but complete kitchen. Walk to everything the historic Waterfront has to offer. Cool off after a hot day in the surf with a frigid a/c. This 2 bedroom has everything you need to stay for a week or for months in Wilmington. Off street parking is a great bonus. You will not find a greater set of amenities at a better price. All the comforts of home for less than a Moderate Priced Hotel. Owner is great and quickly responds to any inquiry. Will stay again!

GREAT HOLIDAYS IN A GREAT PLACE

We spent 5 weeks in this apartment and had a great time. Location is perfect, you can walk everywthere! True, furniture is a bit outdated, but wifi, tv etc are of great quality, which is important nowadays! Steve is a very nice man who helps you any way he can. We hope to come back to Wilmington and will certainly stay in this apartment again!

OWNER INSULTED ME FOR SUGGESTING REPAIRS

First off let me start by saying the positives of this unit. Great location and great water pressure. That being said I have to share a mind blowing lapse in professionalism by this owner. I let him know that the unit is infested with roaches understanding that there was nothing he was going to be able to do about it during my stay as I could not have him spraying chemicals with my young son staying with my wife and I at his unit. After our stay I made one more suggestion that was met with the most hateful unprofessional response I have ever dealt with in renting a unit. This unit has locks that REQUIRE you have a key to unlock them from the inside as well as outside. This means, you can't simply turn a knob and lock the deadbolt at night, you have to keep the key IN THE DOOR so that if a fire were to break out, you would easily be able to escape the unit. I suggested he change those locks and he responded with the following via text message.
"Matt, you live to complain and what consoles all of us whom you annoy endlessly is that you are a temporary problem for us but a inescapable one for yourself. Please don't ever come back."

I couldn't believe a 'professional' would EVER address a client that paid him money this way. I am still pretty shocked.

Following the tips and guidelines of this site here are some specific other pieces of feedback.
Yes, the listing was accurate.
No, the listing photos do not accurately reflect the rental's appearnce and ammenities. There is no picture of the front or back of the unit which are in mild disrepair. Two old mattresses were on the back porch making it look quite unattractive.

Was the property clean and well maintained? No. We had to mop and sweep when we first arrived. We found dead roaches throughout the house as well as a lot of dirt and dead roaches in the crack between the fridge and stove.

Was the owner helpful in answering your concerns? Yes, while our stay was over a week, I contacted him about internet issues and he was quick to resolve these issues. However, after leaving the rental the above altercation shows that was just a front.

Would I recomend this unit to others? No way. Not just for the poor profesionalism, but also because MUCH nicer units exist for the same price in better locations.

Owner's Response: I’m in my mid 50s. I’ve worked with the public my entire life. I can get along with just about anyone. But once in a great while someone comes along that no one should have to suffer in silence. This is such a person. He was overtly meddlesome from the outset and when I didn’t show proper deference for his guidance he became aggressive and hypercritical. I could address each issue of his complaints but they are generally exaggerated. And. as the old saying goes, never wrestle with a pig, you'll just get dirty and the pig seems to enjoy it. And now I’ll thank him once again never to return.

Well appointed, awesome location. Good water pressure, well stocked kitchen with excellent dish, glassware, pots and pans. Would definitely stay here again and again. Furniture in living room is old and kinda gross but the location and amenities of this unit more than make up for it. Owner is super nice and easy to work with. Great value for the dollar.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the write up. The furniture in the living room belonged to my parents and came to be there as they were downsizing. I wouldn't have selected that sofa or white wing back chairs to do 5 years of hard labor in a rental. But alas, they have performed a yeoman's duty. I'll be replacing them shortly. GREAT LOCATION!

The apartment was just as listed with accurate photos. Just like being at home. The location was amazing! Right in the heart of downtown historic Wilmington, but, far enough out that the hustle and bustle of downtown wasn't intrusive for sleeping. It was only one block from the Cape Fear Riverwalk which was a daily stroll to the many shops and restaurants. The "free trolley" route went right past the apartment several times a day and would take you anywhere in the downtown area. Also, the horsedrawn carriages passed daily. The owner was more than helpful and allowed us into the apartment earlier than planned due to an unexpected illness on the trip down. I would recommend this rental to anyone visiting Wilmington and plan to stay there again on a return trip.

Location, location, location at a great price. Owner/realtor met us the day we arrived and was very helpful. We enjoyed walks around the lovely surrounding neighborhoods. Our last morning was the opening of the Farmers' Market that runs Saturdays through December. Within walking distance of the house, it was a perfect way to end our week.
