SELF-CATERING COTTAGE ACCOMMODATION NEAR HEBDEN BRIDGE

Hebden Bridge Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Studio Cottage for two with private patio and garden views. No pets.

Located on the outskirts of Hebden Bridge, Britain's funkiest town, Mistal Cottage is a listed studio cottage conveniently situated in the centre of the village, formerly part of an ancient packhorse route. Midgley is a small hilltop village with panoramic views, close to beautiful heather moorland and wonderful walking country. Our delightful beamed cottage was formerly the animal house, or mistal, and has recently been converted to provide luxury self-contained open plan accommodation for two, all on one floor and with underfloor heating. There is a top quality Strachan bed with wardrobes, a leather sofa, TV with MP3 dock, DVD player and Wi-fi. Shower in luxury in the wet room, separated from the toilet by a glass screen. The well-equipped kitchen area has an easy-to-use combi oven, ceramic hobs, fridge and dishwasher. Relax with a complementary glass of wine on the private patio, accessible through the french doors, and enjoy sitting surrounded by views of our extensive garden.

Mistal Cottage is just over 2 miles from Hebden Bridge, 11 miles from Haworth, the home of the Brontes and 5 miles from Halifax with its historic Piece Hall. Offering a wide selection of films, one of England's last remaining cinema's is still in operation in Hebden Bridge, which is also known for the number of independent shops it contains and has a thriving cafe culture! Browse in the markets on Wednesdays and Thursdays and don't miss the Farmers' market on the first Sunday of the month. Watch the colourful narrowboats on the canal or visit one of the many art galleries or antique shops, or sit outside one of the many tearooms and enjoy Hebden's cafe culture. . Hebden Bridge hosts a number of festivals, the largest being the summer Arts Festival. A walking festival takes place every September and music festivals take place throughout the year. For something different, pay a visit to Todmorden to see Incredible Edible Todmorden in action, and help yourself to fruit and vegetables growing in surprising places!

For those interested in walking, the historic and eco-friendly Gibson Mill at Hardcastle Crags is a must. Bluebells flood the woods in spring and are an amazing sight. This National Trust woodland site provides wonderful walking opportunities for different levels of experience. The Pennine Way and Calderdale Way offer long distance pathways through stunning countryside, starting right at our door! In July, the hillside is covered with ripe bilberries and in August the moors turn purple with the heather. Cyclists are also well catered for and maps and guides are available for use during your stay. 2014 will see the tour de France come through Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd, just minutes from Mistal Cottage.

If golf is more your thing, an 8 hole golf course is only one and a half miles away. Haworth, home to the Brontes, is only 20 minutes away, as is Thornton, the Bronte birthplace. The Yorkshire Dales can be reached in 45 minutes and York in an hour. For those more interested in shopping, Leeds and Manchester are within easy reach. Bradford, just 25 minutes away, offers the National Media Museum and Salts Mill, a World Heritage Site, where Hockney paintings are on display.

Closer to home, make use of the convenience of our Community shop opposite The Mistal, where groceries, beer and wine can be purchased and newspapers can be ordered. Stroll through the village and take in the ancient stocks and many roadside wells. And be prepared to be amazed by the views of the surrounding country side.

We operated a bed and breakfast business in our farmhouse for many years and decided to convert our former animal house into a self-catering studio cottage 3 years ago. It now provides self-contained up-to-date holiday accommodation on one floor and with underfloor heating at a competitive price for 2 people sharing.

Eileen Furey purchased this cottage in 1987

Our farmhouse is a typical 18th century laithe house with a barn attached to a small cottage. iI is grade 2 listed and is one of only a few such properties that retains the original cart door and venetian windows. Being passionate gardeners, we chose our property because it had potential to make a large garden from scratch in the farm paddock. We also keep keep pigs in alternate years and poultry. . We have opened our garden for charity several times.

Mistal Cottage offers affordable, stylish and comfortable up-to-date accommodation designed for 2 people.. Our open plan design gives you everything a much more expensive cottage can offer except an inflated price!

Property very nice,Eileen and Pat very helpful and welcoming. If I was to say anything negative about the cottage was the lack of a washing machine I feel if someone is staying more than a couple of days it defeats the purpose of staying in a cottage if you can't do the whole cottage thing. The cottage has everything and only lacks a washing machine and hair dryer but in the grand scale of things it was very very good.
Owner's Response: We're really pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. We do not list a washing machine on the site as, In the limited space available, we decided a dishwasher would free people from onerous daily tasks. We take the view that people are coming on holiday to relax, not do household chores, which is why we don't ask people to clean before they leave. I'm sorry you didn't find the hairdryer. It's in a drawer in the wardrobe.
