Summer at the beach

This house is situated in a great location.. Convenient(short drive)to town, and a brief walk to the beach. The house has great views, a wonderful way to relax after a day on the beach. The amenities are fair at best, the house is has minimal kitchen supplies, such as spices,paper products, etc. Unfortunately the house itself is not very clean, the carpets are stained, the couches threadbare, and the appliances appeared not to have been cleaned prior to our arrival. The refrigerator was missing a shelf. The air conditioning had to be serviced after two days of heat in the main portion of the house, and the ceiling in the downstairs bath is completely exposed, The owners are quick to respond and attempt to accommodate requests,however, the house really could use a cleaning and overhaul. Westhampton restaurants are fine, however, having knowledge of the Hamptons, we frequently ventured out to other towns. I can't really recommend this property to famiies. We may just be sticklers for cleanliness, but this is important to us in a home environment.
Owner's Response: We agree with the renter that it is a great location. We also agree that it has great views and just steps to the beach and we agree that if there are problems, we respond as quickly as we can. In this case, the A/C needed a charge. Even in the middle of the Summer season, we got the technicians there in about 24 hours. We don't agree,however, with the renter on the cleanliness. We have the house professionally cleaned at no extra cost to the renter before and after each one. We think that they were indeed overly critical that the issues were greatly exaggerated. We also have the carpets cleaned periodically, but, obviously can't do it between every renter. The couches are not brand new, but, certainly nice. We check the house frequently and we found none of these issues to be substantive either before or after these renters.
