Kea is the island closest to the international airport of Athens. It takes 40 minutes by car or bus to the get to the port Lavrion and from there it’s a one hour boat trip to port Korissia. There isone car and bike rental in Korissia (LEON), shops, several tavernas and tour operators
Otzias is a small village on the north area of Kea, 10 km far from Ioulida, its capital and 5 km from port Korissia. There are taxis as well as buses available that connect Otzias with. It counts on just 80 permanent residents, and it has an enclosed picturesque bay with few houses. It has three beachfront restaurants that serve local cuisine and of course fresh fish.Anna is a value for money taverna well recommended with local freshly made cuisine at competitive prices. The beach of Otzias is chosen by many families with children, because its waters are shallow and safe.Another good feature about this village is its great walking paths, ideal for strolling around. Among its places of interest we can point out the many small churches that can be easily reached.
2 miles from Otzias lies Vourkari, a small coastal village with a port/marina for yachts where you can find the island's popular fish restaurants, small boutiques, and nice café for wonderful breakfasts with amazing sweets, or cocktails during the night.
Just 10 km from Otzias lies Ioulis , a charming mountainside village with nice squares, several tavernas, small shops, beautiful houses and endless alleys and rock vaults. Its key feature is the stunning sea view.It also features an archaeological museum .The heart of Chora is the square with the grand city hall and some of the best tavernas in the village. The taverna right in front of the city hall has tables set around the entire square. The view over the valley is soothing, the food is excellent and the waiters are nice, curious and concerned for the wellbeing of their guests.
At the southeast end of the island, at Poles bay, lay the remains of the ancient, deserted city of Karthaia.Karthaia was one of the four cities of the island that formed a federation called Tetrapolis (along with Iulis, Koresia and Poiessa). There are two ways to reach this magnificent beach - archaeological site. The first way is to go on foot in case you are a fan of hiking. There are four different paths that can lead you to Karthaia depending on how long you want to walk. I suggest the shortest that starts at Stavroudaki which is 17kms away from Iulis. The distance from Stavroudaki to Karthaia is 2.3kms which is not very long. After 400m at the dirt track you shall find the cobblestone path. The starting points to the other three paths are Ag.Symeon, Kato Meria and Chavouna respectively You definitely need the proper shoes, some light food and water.
Apart from hiking, one can visit Karthaia by boat which is also an appealing idea. In case you cannot stand walking, take a dive down the ancient sunken port, marvel at the view from the beach or from your boat, and take a short walk up to the remains of the ancient city of Karthaia
Kea is close to being unknown, although it should be much more coveted. Because Kea is an amazing island – if you are the target group that is. If you are dreaming of nice sand beaches with sun chairs and parasols, bars that serve umbrella drinks and discos playing the latest from the dance charts, there is nothing for you on Kea. But if you appreciate genuine islands, hikes along ancient donkey roads in beautiful valleys and if you prefer fascinating sights and laughing lions, Kea is the perfect place. If you also like to enjoy a good Greek meal on late taverna nights, just pack your bags. You will not be disappointed. Kea is a fascinating island just waiting to be discovered.

This villa was initially planned for the vacation of my Family, as we live in a suburb in Athens and we wanted a resort as much close to Athens for weekend escapes to swim alone with no neihgbours around. After searching thoroughly 4 islands nearby Athens we ended up ended up to this one.We bought the land in 2006 and little by little we were finally able to finish construction in 2011.
Spiros purchased this villa in 2006
Why Spiros chose Kea
This property was bought for us as a vacation getaway. We wanted to be able to take the car from our home in Athens and be there in less than 2 hours,in a remote place, beachfront, swim alone and watch the sunset with no surrounding neighbors. But, we also wanted to have immediate access to night life and to the centre of the island
What makes this villa unique
We loved the idea that we could swim on a private beach in crystal clear waters watching the sunset
