Idyllic location, lovely villa

We really enjoyed our stay here. A lovely villa in a great setting.
The large open (very well equipped) kitchen diner is great for families, as is the big comfy lounge with a good selection of games and books. All the accommodation is on one floor, double and single bedrooms being directly off the kitchen diner and the twin off the lounge. There is a great veranda, overlooking the garden, running the entire length of the house.
Nb, no wardrobe in the single bedroom. Also, as there is no street lighting, it can be very dark at night (can't see hand in front of face) so nightlights might be an idea for kids or those who just don't like the dark!
The garden is bigger than it appears in the photo and it having its own riverbank was simply wonderful. There's a bench seat at the bottom of the garden perfect for fishing and I managed to catch barbel, bream, roach, minnows and sunfish (US immigrant!). It wasn't easy though (novices will struggle). Wildlife spotted from the bench included several Coypu, Red Squirrel, Buzzard, Kingfisher, a very noisy Jay and unsurprisingly Heron. Also saw a couple of Crayfish in the boat inlet.
Swimming in the river would probably be for the more adventurous. It is clean but like most slow running deep rivers it has a muddy bottom, giving it a bit of colour, and there are underwater snags. It's very deep right from the bank as well.
We took the boat out several times, with the upstream row to a watermill being especially enjoyable.
There are no neighbouring houses, only a neighbouring fishing bench in the land "next door" and the owner of that only made one very brief appearance during our stay.
The house is definitely away from it all (which is what we wanted) on very seldom used road, though the odd cars that do use it seem to do so at some speed! Shops etc will mean driving.
I've not ticked suitable for young children purely because of the river and I've not ticked suitable for disabled because, although the single storey house itself is perfect for wheelchairs, it is built raised up separated from the garden (as it can flood in winter) by some high steps. You could push a wheelchair down a grass slope at the side of the house but pushing it back would be fun.
I've ticked "Families with Teenagers" and "Girls Getaway" but it would only be for those looking to chill out in wonderful peaceful surroundings. If that is what you're looking to do then this will take some beating!
Highly recommended.
