Our cottage, 'Ursa’s Watch', is a cozy, 2-bedroom cottage, nestled on 4 acres of pristine pine forested woodland, with partial water views, within walking distance of shoreline. Each bedroom has one full-size bed and the large family room, with fireplace, has a futon. The large front deck was made for 'watching the world go by' and the small back deck for ultimate privacy. Gas heat is available for chilly summer evenings or “shoulder-season” getaways.

Nearby activities: A small sandy beach (shallow enough that the water warms nicely for swimming) or the community tennis court is a short walk from the cottage. There are excellent walking and biking trails, kayaking, sailing, fishing, and canoeing in the Martin Point and Friendship area. Kayaks are available to be rented in Friendship Village, just five minutes away, and the public landing, for launching a boat or kayak, is nearby.

Things to do: Lighthouses, festivals, whale watches, windjammer and day cruises to nearby islands, museums, art galleries, and antique merchants are common to the area. Rockport (“The Lobster Capital of the World”) and Camden, Pemaquid Point and the Boothbay regions are less than 40 minutes away. Bar Harbor is an easy day trip along scenic route 1.

Quite and Secluded

Very quiet and secluded area on Martin's Point. Rent was very reasonable for this area. Inside was exactly as described. It was clean and the living room provided ample room for sitting and chatting. The bedrooms were a good size but the mattresses were on the uncomfortable side. I enjoyed the secluded back deck and its close proximity to the forest. There were plenty of pots, dishes, glassware and cleaning supplies for us to use. There are only 2 channels that come in on the TV so you should bring some DVDs. They do provide a good collection of board games, books, and a CD/Radio.

The only issues that we had was the uncomfortable mattresses, gas grill not working and the kitchen floor was sagging in the middle making the table lean at an awkard angle.

The grounds could use some upkeep as there is a lot of peeling paint on the windows and the lawn was overgrown.

The property is exactly as described. The cottage is neat and clean, and accomodated our group of 4 nicely.
