To wake up in the morning with the reflection of the sunlight on the surface of the water and hear the sound of water birds is a unique way to live within the city. To share with you the experience and feeling of living on a houseboat in the canals of Amsterdam, we would like to welcome you to the Watercraddle.
This unique small houseboat recently had its interior completely renovated and is a perfect place to stay for two people looking to spend a great time in a lovely city. The houseboat has a comfortable king-size bed (1. 80 x 2. 00), a stylish bathroom, a kitchen, wifi and television. You will enjoy to sit on your own little terrace on the waterside and watch the water birds. The Watercraddle is located on a quiet walkway (no cars in front of the boat), just a few hundred meters from the Jordaan district, well-known for its canals, markets, cozy pubs and restaurants and the Anne Frank House.
The Watercraddle is located a hunderd meters from the heart of the Jordan, in the historic center of Amsterdam. The Jordaan is an area full of small restaurants, terraces, fun shops alternating with beautiful canals, small streets and with a variety of wonderful historic buildings. The Jordaan borders on the well-known shopping area the Nine Little Streets (literally: Nine Little Streets) were you can find usefull many small shops and cozy restaurants.
Within walking distance you will find highlights like the Anne Frank House, the Wester Tower, the Dam square, the Royal Palace and the Amsterdam Historic Museum. BedonBoard is easily reachable by car and public transport (see below under "Accessibility"), but once you're here, the easiest means of transportation is by bicycle (see tab "Bicycle rental").
The Watercraddle is a few minutes walk from the nicest shopping street in Amsterdam (and Awarded second best shopping street of the Netherlands, 2011): Haarlemmerdijk and about 10 minutes by bike from Central Station or the Leidseplein.
It is a mere 500 meters walk to the beautiful North, and recently fully renovated Westerpark, also known as the "Culture Park" or Amsterdam. In Westerpark you will find a classic Victorian style park section, a large center section for cultural events and a more rugged part with trails for walkers or runners. Centrally located in the park you will find the Espressofabriek with simply the best coffee Amsterdam has to offer. Enjoy a superb breakfast in the nearby Baker Store. Every Sunday of the month there is a farmers market in the park. If you're looking for something very close to the Watercraddle, we recommend the Pavilion.
In summary, a peaceful but central location in a nice neighborhood in Amsterdam.
From the airport you can take a train to central station (20 min). From there you can either walk (20 minutes), take a cab (approximately € 13) or take bus 21 (less than 10 minutes).
To take bus 21. When you arrive at Central Station, exit on the city side (main exit). Take bus number 21 and get off at the stop after 5 minutes "of Beuningenplein". At the other side of the street you will see a large square with a play garden: the "from Beuningenplein". Take the road left of this square (Second Keucheniusstraat) and follow 150 meters to the very end. You are in front of your BedonBoard!
When you decide to come by car. You can park your car almost always in front of the Watercraddle. However, Amsterdam is not very "car friendly" as the city charges rather high rates for parking. Alternatively, go to Park and Ride Amsterdam for cheaper parking options. The Park and Ride thats closest to us, is the "P + R Sloterdijk". The cost for Park and Ride is € 8 per day. They offer return tickets for public transport free of charge.
