Beautiful and Quiet Lakefront Getaway

We wanted solitude and found exactly that in this clean, well-equipped and maintained home. With a view of Lake Huron from the open, airy living area, the master bedroom, and the screened-in porch, the lake was a featured character, whether we were inside or out. We noted pretty potted flowers outside the main entry and on the deck. My husband and I, and our two dogs enjoyed time on the multi-level deck area. We brought 2 expandable fences with us and used them to keep the dogs on the upper level of the deck. The lake shore is rocky (the owner had mentioned this -- his descriptions of the property were quite accurate); while we prefer sand, the rocks gave the landscape an amazing, eerie beauty that I loved and that seemed to fit the site perfectly. One evening we built a fire in the pit, steps away from the lower deck. The house has an additional bath and 2 additional bedrooms; we closed those off but noted that they'd make this home perfect for a gathering of family and/or friends. There are opportunities for recreation and activity. The Drummond Island tourist center provides such information, including kayaking information, trail maps for hiking (we hiked a few trails with the dogs), off-road vehicles, mountain biking, etc. The off-road vehicle trails are on the east side of the island; Tasch's Retreat is on the west. We took nice walks with the dogs right around the property, in the woods and on roads. Though walking and reading were our main activities, this location and home could easily accommodate more.
