Sunset Cottage is a charming three-bedroom cottage located on the shore of Lake Huron on St. Martin's Bay and just minutes from Hessel, Cedarville and Les Cheneaux Islands with popular activities such as boating, fishing and golf. The cottage combines lake living with the warm welcoming atmosphere of home, making it a favorite of honeymooners, couples and families.

Sunset Cottage is newly renovated with a larger kitchen and new bathroom on the second floor. There are French doors, which face the lake and lead to a large deck for plenty of room to enjoy the sun during the day and a view of spectacular sunsets in the evening. Sunset Cottage is close to many favorite northern Michigan vacation spots like Mackinac Island and St. Ignace are 30 minutes away; Sault Saint Marie and the Soo Locks are 45 minutes north. There are several casinos close by; the Hessel Casino is a ten minute drive. The cottage is also close to state and national parks for walking and hiking.

Sunset Cottage is nestled in pine and cedar trees, steps away from the shore and is a great place for a peaceful vacation in Northern Michigan. Fully equipped kitchen including: dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, toaster, blender, dishes, utensils, pots and pans. Full size refrigerator; electric stove.

About Cathy Neff-Siegers

The cottage was purchased by my late husband and myself as a second home. It has been decorated and furnished for that purpose. It is rented for only, approximately, five months during the year. It is a popular location for families and couples seeking a relaxing get away.

The cottage is comfortable and well maintained with all needs provided for. Our stay was an incredibly relaxing. The Hessel area is a beautiful environment for the family, and not far from the cottage.

My husband and I spend a very cold, rainy, AND snowy weekend at Sunset Cottage and LOVED IT! We had fully planned several day trips out and about the Upper Peninsula but due to the weather decided to stay put at the cottage instead and we were all the better for it. It was so charming and Cathy has thought of everything to make you feel at home. She gave us well-written instructions on how to get to the cottage and also about points of interest in the area. The kitchen has everything you would need to cook if you should want. We opted to eat out but did use the coffee maker and toaster oven. The rooms were all comfortable and the gas stove kept us nice and warm. Funny thing, even though the weather wasn't great, we had a beautiful sunset EACH night. We also saw deer in the yard two mornings. Restaurants in the area weren't all open but Ang Gios was and we ate there several times. We plan on going back when it's warmer. Thank you, Cathy.

Great Cabin

This is a great cabin in the woods with an upscale kitchen. It has everything you need. We have rented here the past three years in a row and always look forward to our return visit. We have never been disappointed. The woodlands feature deer and newly born fawns making their way down to the water for a drink (and can be seen from the full glass windows of the cottage). Pileated Wood Peckers can be spotted along with a great blue herron or two. The sun sets are breath-taking and can be watched full view from the sliding windows or on the deck or snuggled in the swing on the beach. A beautiful cabin where you can leave your worries behind. For Internet use, try the local library or Bumpas in Cedarville that offers free Wifii. Unfortunately, I'm an online professor and can't quite get totally unplugged (though I wish) while on vacation.

This was a beautiful beach house that was very comfortable for our group of 6. It was clean and had everything that we needed . Owner was very helpful and easy to work with . Great views and had a great deck to sit on . We would recommend it to other renters. We wish we could have gotten down to the water for swimming but high lake levels and high grass prevented us from using the beach area.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
Owner's Response: I always recommend that my guests bring water shoes to get to the water. Unfortunately, the Department of Natural Resourses won't allow us to cut down the vegetation that grows at the waters edge.

Sunset cottage is nestled in the upper-penninsula of Michigan and faces the bays of Lake Huron. We experienced beautiful sunsets on the water. The area was quiet; though we attended off-season. The cottage itself is cozy and comfortable with modern kitchen facilities and laundry facilities. The owners make sure andirondak chairs can be found on the deck and a fire-pit along-side a swing for two facing the beach are available to guests.
Recommended for:  Adventure Seekers, Romantic Getaway
