Located in the heart of the Maremma, in southern Tuscany, Le Capannacce sits alone on a hilltop with expansive open views of wooded valleys and olive groves. The house itself is an old 'podere' or farmhouse that dates back to the early 18th century, now lovingly restored with many of the original details preserved. There are five spacious double bedrooms, each with bathroom en suite. It has a large kitchen, two covered terraces, three sitting rooms, a dining room, outbuildings and a swimming pool.
Outdoor dining at another large marble table on a covered terrace w/ wonderful view. French doors lead out all along the ground floor of the house to the back terrace. Two large fireplaces and a central heating system keep the house warm during cooler months.
Wireless Internet is available and rental comes with the services of a daily maid.
Two hectares of private garden surround the house, dotted with potted flowers, an olive grove, and a cypress-lined drive.
A small terrace off the kitchen with table and chairs provides a shaded spot for breakfast in the early morning. There is a large terrace for dining, shaded by a vine-covered pergola off the back of the house.
The outbuildings house a large covered terrace adjacent and open to the pool, and an old bread oven, ideal for barbecues.
The swimming pool measures 10m x 6m. Pool furniture includes comfortable chairs for relaxing in the shade with loungers poolside.
This is an old stone house which stays wonderfully cool in summer, provided the shutters are closed in the bedrooms during the heat of the day.

It's 2 hours north of Rome, 45 minutes southwest of Siena, and 90 minutes southwest of Florence. Beautiful Maremma beaches can be reached within 40 minutes drive from the house.
Other places of interest closer to home include Pienza, Montepulciano, Montalcino (the home of Brunello wine) and Monte Amiata. The hot springs of Saturnia, Petriolo and Bagno Vingone are all within an hour’s drive. The excavated Etruscan town of Rosele, with it's tombs intact, is only 20 minutes away by car.
The local village of Paganico, less than 10 minutes drive away, has an excellent bar and gelateria, good inexpensive restaurants and comprehensive shopping. There is also a tennis club (no membership required). Bank and ATMs, hardware, post office, international newspapers all available.
