MOOSELOOKMEGUNTIC LAKEFRONT CAMP

We had a really nice week at Lake Mooselookmeguntic. The camp is clean and spacious with a nice kitchen, porch, grill and yard. We have a two-year old so having open area for her to play both in the house and in the yard was really great. The yard is landscaped enough that there is plenty of running area for the short-legged. The Heweys are right next door, and were always available to help us.

It seems like the area is more of a winter destination than a summer one. We had no trouble finding parking places, restaurants weren't crowded, and there was not much boat traffic on the lakes, making things nice and quiet. We went for a lovely ride on the Oquossoc Lady, a restored 1930's wooden boat that tours Rangeley Lake. There were also nice playgrounds - one in Oquossoc and one in Rangeley.

I would definitely recommend this area and this camp in particular!

This was our third spring fishing trip at The Rockery. Our group has stayed at numerous northern Maine lakes for a week's worth of salmon and trout fishing for about 25 years running. The Rockery and Mooselooke Lake is certainly one of our favorites. The location is easy to find and not far from the State's boat launch on the southerly end of the lake if you plan on bringing a boat. The dock can easily accommodate two boats and is well protected between two rows of boulders jutting out into the lake. The camp is more than comfortable and the soapstone wood stove does a remarkable job at taking the chill off. We're looking forward to next spring at The Rockery for another great stay and some of the best fishing around.
