Peaceful property, embracing home
Once again we had a wonderful and relaxing weekend. Great time exploring the woods this time with out snow shoes! This is a home that you can have fun any time of the year! We will be booking for 2015.
We traveled to the Berkshires with our 22-month old son, and another family with an 8-month old son. This home was perfect - away from the town so we could relax and enjoy nature, but close enough (30 min) to Lenox for dinner out and walking around. The home is beautiful, and the kids loved the brook, as well as all the space outside to run/crawl around. The owner was very helpful and responsive. We cooked in for lunch and one dinner, and the house had everything we needed.
This my umpteenth time staying at Colesbrook Manor. I always enjoy myself and feel so at home there with the bubbling brook and the sunlight and the moonlight and the quiet. I have been there alone, with friends and as a couple. In all cases , it was very enjoyable and relaxing. It is a great place to hang out and cook meals together and play scrabble and take walks and go to the many venues in the nearby Berkshires … outdoor activities, Jacob’s Pillow for dance , Tanglewood for music and many museums. This time we even ventured up to North Adams to the Mass MOCA ( Museum of Contemporary Art). Colesbrook is quite the place to act as a wonderful base for exploring the area or simply enjoying the house and surroundings. And they are unique as I think of the place as a hand-made house where you can feel the energy of the earth and the people who built it as well as nature all around.
It is a rustic setting and a get away from a lot of the hurry and busyness of the modern world in an authentic way. I recommend staying at Colebrook as a place to re-connect with the earth, the arts and each other. I look forward to my next stay as do all of the friends who have ever visited there with me. Happy Berkshires !
We booked a last minute 3-day getaway from Boston for some peace and quiet! Andy was very accommodating and suggested we try the Dream Away lodge for dinner. We had a blast there but especially enjoyed our time on his lovely property, with everything needed for a comfortable stay. We went for long walks along the brook, dipped our toes in the pond, relaxed by the fire outside, grilled some nice meals and enjoyed reading from the several sitting areas. We loved all the huge windows and falling asleep to the sound of the brook. We had a very comfortable stay and highly recommend this rental! We hope to come back in the Autumn!
This was our fourth stay at Colebrook Manor with friends, and I think we enjoy it each time even more than before. The house is beautiful with amazing views from every window. Yes, there are no curtains, but you do not need them, you are surrounded by woods. It is so relaxing to sit by the fireplace on cold winter day or sit outside on a warm day listening to the brook. You can go hiking right from the house along the brook, it is so beautiful. If you are looking for a real get away from the rat race, this is it.
Could not have asked for a more perfect winter getaway. House was exactly what we were looking for cozy and relaxing. The views from every room were a winter wonderland. Perfect for snow shoeing and x-country. The house was a craftsmen dream, something unique in every room. The house was well equipped with every thing we needed. Most nights spent by the fire with good food (and drink), great friends (playing cards),making wonderful memories. It was a treat to meet Andy and hear his wonderful stories of how he built this well loved house. We will absolutely return for other relaxing getaways. Deb, Lisa and gang.
