Plymouth Cottage Rental Photos and Description
2 bedrooms, sleeps up to 6
You'll love the short walk from 'The Palace' to our white sandy beach on Long Pond, one of Southeastern Massachusetts' pristine glacial lakes. This rustic summer cottage is tucked into a pine woodland and sits on a hill just above the large beach. The beach which is semiprivate, has a dock a floating raft and tons of sand - perfect for building sandcastles. The gradual entrance into the water is great for young children.
The Palace offers accommodations for up to six people. There are two bedrooms, one with a queen bed, and one with one double and two twins. The galley kitchen has plenty of cooking utensils and dishes. The screened porch is set up for dining alfresco while enjoying a great view of Long Pond.
Perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, a week at the Palace offers an old-fashioned style family vacation.
You can enjoy quiet morning strolls along woodland paths and refreshing daily swims while remaining surprisingly close to many popular Massachusetts destinations. Long Pond has clean, clear water with a sandy bottom and is great for small craft boating. There is a public boat ramp that accommodates small boats. Kayaks and sailboats are perfect. For over 60 years, the pond residents have raced antique sail boats on Saturday and Sunday afternoons in July and August. Fishermen love Long Pond which the state stocks with trout and salmon each Spring and Fall.
Explore miles of sandy country roads and trails that run through conservation land, cranberry bogs and along the shores of three nearby ponds.
The cottage is next to Pinewoods Camp, a folk dance and music camp. You can hear the music wafting through the woods and on selected Sunday nights, can participate in the evening folk dance program.
Four generations of our family have vacationed on this property for over seventy years. We have worked hard to preserve its natural, rustic character and the unique old-fashioned nature of the structures.

About Susan Conant
The Conant family has been summering on Long Pond for four generations. It is currently owned and managed by 5 siblings -- the grandchildren of Dick and Lily Conant who stewarded this land for many years.
Susan Conant purchased this cottage in 1920
Why Susan Conant chose Plymouth
The property sits next to Pinewoods Camp, a dance and music camp for adults and families. Lily Conant helped Helen Storrow establish the camp way back in the early 20th century. Mrs Storrow left the property to Lily who managed for many years. The camp was split off into a not-for-profit when our dad and his sisters inherited it. We have worked hard to keep our family compound as rustic and beautiful as it was when we were growing up. Our five siblings and our children have spent some time during every one of their summers on this land.
What makes this cottage unique
We love the rustic pathways (we know every root and bend), the tall trees and it's particular smell of pine and pond water. This is where we all learned how to swim, how to handle a canoe and sailboat, how to walk around the woods at night, and how to live simply on this beautiful property.
Guestbook comments from the owner
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Palace. It is such a lovely little
place and the beach and Long Pond are wonderful. I just wish we didn't live
so far away! We also really enjoyed hearing the Armenian/Balkan
music/dancing. We have only recently been introduced to English Country
dancing this past year. It is becoming quite popular amongst homeschoolers
in our area (we homeschool) and we actually had a party for our daughter's 17th birthday last November with English Country dancing in our
house for about 20 teens. It was fabulous!
