Location, location, location!

Just returned from a week-long winter stay at Arbor House, and it was just great. The location is perfect - steps away from the main street shopping area; a 10 minute walk to the grocery store; an easy, 1.5 mile walk to the entrance of Acadia (accessible only in limited areas during the winter months). Despite it's proximity to the stores and restaurants of B.H., the house feels very private: You're not aware of the activity outside your windows unless you actually look for it.
The house was bright and spotlessly clean when we arrived. And toasty warm! (This won't matter much to summer visitors, but off-seson guests will appreciate the many baseboard heaters and responsive thermostats.) Downstairs is an open floor plan of living room/dining room/kitchen. A comfy couch and some not-so-comfy wicker chairs are available for t.v. watching and socializing. (The t.v. could be bigger - it's pretty small.) A DVD player and VCR are available. A nice farmhouse-style table and chairs comprise the dinining area. The kitchen is bright, cheery, and *pretty well* stocked for cooking. More on that in a moment. Upstairs (Note: The staircase is quite steep and the risers are narrow ) you'll find the master bedroom with a full-size bed, and a second bedroom with 2 twin beds. There is tons of closet space and plenty of hangers (in addition to chests of drawers), so no need to live out of your suitcase. The bathroom has super-capacity washer+dryer in it. There is an awesome shower! Nothing fancy about it, but it has a heavy, forceful spray and plenty of hot water. Perfect for tired hikers/bikers/skiiers!
We don't eat in restaurants, so having a well-equipped kitchen is a huge plus for us. This kitchen lacks a couple of "basics" such a good cutting board and some sharp knives (there are plenty of "Ginsu" type knives, but if you cook, you know these are worthless....) The stove is a very old electric model - charming to look at, but the burners are uneven and wobbly so pans don't sit flat on them. Kind of annoying if you're cooking pancakes, etc. There was a decent selection of pots/pans, plenty of cutlery and dinnerware. Fridge, micro, and toaster are just fine.
My gripes with this property are minor and limited to the small TV and the kitchen issues mentoned above. I can easily recommend Arbor House, and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Clean, comfortable, good value, excellent location.
Owner's Response: Thanks for the great review! Based on these comments, we have put in a larger TV, fixed the stovetop, and added a cutting board and better cooking knife in the kitchen.
