Recommend this nice flat in excellent location
Our family stayed in this ultra-well-located flat in Kensington for several nights in September. It was a great fit for our needs, and we enjoyed our time there. It was much better than staying in a hotel, because we could 'spread out' on the first level and enjoy our own kitchen, living room (although not large) and dining room. Upstairs are the 2 bedrooms and bathroom. My husband and I were comfortable in the master bedroom, and our two sons were comfortable in the other bedroom (one in the main bed, another in an extra mattress on the floor). The bathroom was spacious and comfortable, with good water pressure in the shower (not a guarantee in London)! The kitchen had all the basics we needed. The roof patio is quite wonderful for London, if one has the time and weather to enjoy it (sadly, we did not).
A few small comments: one is that the flat was more 'rustic bachelor' and less elegant than I had expected from the website, also a bit smaller - however we have found similar differences in other homes we have rented (I believe it's a function of photos on the internet, and not any purposeful attempt by owners to make their properties look different or better than reality) - just something to bear in mind. Another is that there weren't a lot of places to unpack and keep our own clothes, as the closets were locked and only hanging racks and existing surfaces were available for our things - so we had to leave our clothes out in stacks (not a big dea,l but it is nicer to feel more moved-in and less 'crashing at a friend's place').
Everything was clean and comfortable, and I really appreciated that the owner was helpful and responsive, both prior to and during our visit. For example, he offered to reimburse me for a hair dryer if I bought one, as his flat did not come have one and he thought it would be a good thing to have.
The location is top-quality. Just one short block from Kensington Gardens, we were able to take the children to the park to play, and to go jogging and bicycling. The foodie shops immediately across the street and below the flat (a couple floors below: smells not an issue at all) are world-class delicious, and there are countless great restaurants and shopping in the immediate area. Also close to the tube.
We definitely recommend this flat for a great hotel alternative if you like the city-living feel during your stay in London.
