Sable Rose is a beachfront cottage on the beach in North Palmetto Point, Eleuthera, Bahamas. It is designed for couples that want to immerse themselves in the beach, on a deserted beach, very private. The nearest house is about a mile away and it is virtually a given that renters will not see a single person on the beach during their entire stay. There are many reefs nearby for offshore snorkeling and boating. There are two offshore islands, the Gut Islands, about a half-mile offshore. On the side of the house away from the ocean is Long Pond which provides nothing short of a spectacular view for sunsets on the deck on this Atlantic side rental. Two of the islands finest restaurants, Unique Village and Mate and Jenny's, are within about 5 miles.

Previous renters have said le Sable has three things going for it: 1) Location 2) Location 3) Location. It is the only house on this gorgeous deserted half-moon, pink sand beach. It is probably for this reason, along with its general seclusion, that it is both a favorite for honeymooners, as well as being a vacation rental that gets many repeat renters. There is no other house on the island that is so close to the beach. It is actually part OF the beach. The snorkeling in front of the house is fantastic, as there are many close by offshore reefs, all with easy swimming distance.

Le Sable Rose is truly unique among the vacation rentals in Eleuthera. First of all, it is ON the beach. Second of all, it is the only house on the entire deserted beach, which is very rare in Eleuthera. True, there are finer, and bigger houses on the island, but none has a better location. In addition, the beach, especially to the south, is a great jogging and walking beach. You can stroll or jog about five miles south, on Double Bay beach, which is almost always empty. The sand is hard packed in most places for great jogging. And when you get tired, you just jump into the warm, gin-clear water, before continuing on. There are nearby offshore reefs, so you can easily snorkel, and if experienced, as some renters have been, you can catch lobsters, as well as spear other edible fish, like grouper.

A good way to check locations of a vacation rental is to go to Google Maps, and locate it. If you do this with le Sable Rose, you can see how unique the location is; lots of empty beach, both north and south. The beach itself is a half-moon, pink sand beach, ringed with palm trees. There is a coconut palm forest to the immediate south of the house. Unique Village, a fine restaurant, is just 2 miles away, and Mate and Jenny's, one of the favorite pizza places on the island is about 4 miles away. Joe's is about 5 miles away, and Tippy's is about 6 miles away.

~Our Le Sable Rose Paradise in Eleuthera!~

Hi!
Le Sable Rose has been the only place we have returned to 5 times in our many travels over 35+ years of marriage! It is a magical place! After leaving the airport we stock up on groceries and liquor in Governor's Harbour. We like the Texaco station grocery store and Burrows. As we are driving down the sandy road to Le Sable Rose we are always very excited and emotional because of the many happy memories we have had there. It is where we come to relax and rejuvenate in complete privacy. The house is perfect for the two of us! It is spotless when we walk in because Natasha the Housekeeper and her family are AMAZING! They are like family to us now. She has made us some wonderful meals like Lobster Salad and Grouper. The deck has a picnic table that we love to eat out on to catch the gorgeous sunsets. We were happy to see two new lawn chairs last year to sun bathe on the deck and back patio. Three steps off the deck you step immediately into the white sandy beach. Twenty yards out is the clear blue Atlantic ocean that we can not wait to jump into as soon as we arrive. Right in back of the house is great snorkeling. We have seen many colorful fish, a 4ft. Tarpon, Rays, and two Lobsters in the lagoon area. The house is very secluded and has glass sliding doors all around it for amazing views! We hardly ever see anyone walking the beach the entire time! Make sure you take a flashlight and walk the beach at night. You will never see stars like this! Some restaurants we love to eat at are Dolce Vita, Cigatoo in Governor's Harbour (try the Bahamian fish stew for breakfast, yes for BREAKFAST) We love their fried Grouper there too and they have the BEST Key Lime Pie you'll ever have. Other great restaurants are: Sunset, Mate and Jenny's, Buckaneer, Tippy's (get a reservation here), and of course Captain Jack's for a great outdoor bar and wonderful food. It has a band playing some nights. Natasha may be there too! We use to get in the rental car and take off for the day, but now we like to stay right at Le Sable Rose! If you want to get away some suggestions are: so many beautiful beaches (pick up a copy of Elusive Beaches of Eleuthera at any gift shop), Harbour Island is very busy with tourists but worth a drive/ferry once, Bannerman Town Lighthouse (a bit of a drive south), Ocean Hole, Muriel's right in North Palmetto Point has yummy breads, pies, and tarts. The people of Eleuthera are so friendly. We LOVE our Le Sable Rose!

This property doesn't look much like these photos at all.

To start off, the owner never contacted the housekeeper to notify her that we were arriving. We waited for more than 3 hours for the wonderful woman to clean the property while we were eaten alive by sand flies on the beach in front of the house. My husband had over 300 bites on 1 foot alone.

The beach photo has been photshoped to have all the seaweed and rocks removed. The front view showing all sand has entirely overgrown with vegitation.

The jacuuzzi consists of a regular bath tub with water jets in a bathroom where the ceiling paint is all coming down and the caulking is hugely cracked.

The house was supposed to have a grill as well as snorkel gear....neither are there.

Even the nice beach chairs in the photos are not there. There are 2 very beat up old chairs and a warped, unusable picnic table on a deck that is coming apart.

I was told after contacting the owner upon our return, that we were given a discount anyway and that's all there was. We were given no discount.

The owner never even apologized.


He then changed the rate on the website to show the new rate allowing for "discount"

All that....the people and island of Eleuthera are absolutely wonderful.

We'll be back, just not here.
