Overview: If we don't drive to the main beaches, we often walk (10 min.) down to a little cove near the house called 'La Lanchita beach:' which is frequently deserted. In the evening we always walk into the village of Isabella Segunda (15 minutes) to wander around the plazas or to visit a pub. At times it's like having a holiday in Spain. Vieques is one of the few islands that we know of where you really feel safe to walk anywhere at night. Besides, the smell of jasmine is enough to lure you outside anyway! It is an easy 20 min. flight from the airport in San Juan (about 60 dollars) to the new airport on Vieques. You will be met at the airport or ferry by our agent and taken to the villa. Our agent can also arrange for a rental car to be at the house for you. The house has everything you need-- even books and towels. Just bring shorts, T shirts, bathing suits, and your favorite CD's!
We hope that you enjoy Villa Altamira as much as we do and that you will return more than once.
Guest Comments: ' I just wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed our stay at your house and on the island. It was wonderful. The house was fantastic, the weather was great and the people on the island so friendly. We felt right at home the first day. JoAnne was great, she met us at the ferry and got us our cars, showed us around the house, and gave us pointers on the local restaurants and pubs (especially Al's Mar Azul!). We will definitely be doing this again! And thanks to you for all of your attention to detail in your e-mails. Everything was covered and if we had a question, we just pulled out your notes. We look forward to another trip to Vieques in the future! Happy holiday!'
Guest Comments: We just returned yesterday from our wonderful stay in Vieques, made more special by your lovely home. It was one of those few times when our expectations did not exceed reality. We loved the breezes on your upper deck (I called it my air-conditioning), the pool, the CD player, the kitchen and the barbecue grill! We actually found Secret Beach this time (last year we spent a couple of hours one afternoon and never did find it). We added a few notes of our own to your guest book, which will hopefully help future visitors. Thanks again for letting us share your home. We look forward to our next visit in Vieques.'

Hi John and Karen,
We have arrived to our little slice of paradise, and we couldn’t be more thrilled. This is a gorgeous house in an amazing location. We are so thankful to you for making this possible for us, and appreciate all the efforts you have made to keep the property so beautiful. We went to Red Beach today, but waited maybe too long as we got there around 1:30 and the sea was a bit rough. Did get to stand and enjoy a school of angel fish for a while. ( : Tomorrow, we are off to Mosquito Pier. Yay!
Annette was great, so welcoming and so helpful. My kids are LOVING the pool, my son LOVES the hammock, and Joe and I LOVE it all. We have found our way into town, but I’d read that there is a small beach close to the house where we can walk down and snorkel. Can you let me know where that is?
Anyway, we have 5 more days of glory, and will be sure to post a glowing review very soon!
Thanks so much,
