Disappointing unit but beautiful beach

The non-smoking unit reeked of cigar odor when the door was opened. We found dead bugs lining windowsill next to sink in kitchen. Floors were dirty complete with many "dust bunnies". Before beginning vacation it was necessary to totally clean floors in a unit that charges a cleaning fee in addition to rental fee. The most upsetting was the mold in bathroons that resulted in breathing difficulties and a trip to the Dr Tuesday after arrival on Saturday.. Would not recommend if you are alergic to mold.
Owner's Response: The unit is now and always has been a non-smoking unit.
Several of the owners on our floor are smokers, and on occassion, the smoke will be in the hallway, and/or blowing across the balcony.
We have the unit cleaned by a service after every guest,but being on the ocean,it is not realistic to think you can keep out every insect all the time. We have rented this unit for several years now and have never had a complaint. The renters in this instance were offered a refund on the cleaning fee, which they declined, and also offered to have the unit cleaned again before they began their stay. This was also declined.
We have never had mold in the unit, so I'm not sure how to correct a problem we haven't encountered, but we will be going to the unit and will check closely for any signs of mold problems.
It would seem that if the unit were to be as bad as the renter claims, they would not have stayed, but requested another unit on the property. They did not, and choose to remain in the unit for the full 2 weeks.
Our next guest has arrived and we called to be check on any problems they may have encountered. They found no problems and said they were very happy with the unit.
