Le Poteau is a beautifully restored farmhouse, with a pool and large garden, in a quiet rural position about 5 kms from Availles Limouzine which sits on the banks of the very lovely River Vienne. Poitiers and Futuroscope are about an hours drive away. Limoges, famous for its porcelain, is also an hours drive. The village of Oradour sur Glane, destroyed in World War 2 by the SS is preserved in a ruined state, a poignant memorial that should not be missed, is about 40 minutes by car.
Other places of interest to visit include Chauvigny, Saint-Savain and Montmorillon.
Besides the good walking in the area of Le Poteau there is the lovely area of the Monts de Blond about half an hour's drive.
For the motor racing enthusiast the Cicuit de Val De Vienne is 5 minutes away.
