Villa Amelie is a beautiful home occupying a secluded hillside setting just above the seaside town of Opatija, Croatia.

Downstairs is a large lounge with sea views, widescreen TV, VCR, DVD, stereo & sofas. The lounge leads straight into a bright & airy open-plan kitchen/dining room with stunning sea views. All mod cons provided. Fourth bedroom (a double with sea view) is located downstairs together with a downstairs cloakroom, entrance hall & laundry room.

Outside is a large sun terrace with lovely sea views. Guests can dine al fresco - barbecue, outdoor dining table & chairs provided. Guests have use of loungers & chairs for sunbathing in the 2 large gardens. There's ample private parking.

Upstairs is a beautiful master bedroom with private balcony, amazing sea views, ensuite bathroom, walk-in closet & TV. There are 2 other double bedrooms - 1 with sea views and the other with hillside views. There's also a family bathroom with tub & shower.

ATTRACTIONS:

SEA:

When you've done enough relaxing on the beautiful beaches, why not try .....

scuba diving, big game fishing, jet skiing, water-skiing, pedalos, sea kayaking, para-sailing or boat excursions.

GASTRONOMY:

There's a huge choice of excellent local restaurants. This part of Croatia is renowned for its fresh seafood.

Or, if you fancy staying in and hosting your own dinner party, we can even arrange a chef to come and cook some local specialities for you in the villa.

NIGHTLIFE:

Opatija offers many great places to spend the evening including bars and restaurants with live music, open-air films & concerts, casinos, discos and more. The city of Rijeka has an even more extensive choice of nightlife.

TENNIS:

Clay tennis courts are available for hire a short drive away in Rukovac. Take a private lesson with the club professional, or even enter a tournament!

GOLF:

Istria has a 6-hole course & driving range near Motovun, Istria. Full-size courses can be found in Pula and on the island of Veli Brijun in Brijuni.

WALKING, HIKING, CYCLING:

There are plenty of local walks, paths, trails and lanes with beautiful scenery for you to enjoy.

Walk or cycle along kilometre after kilometre of marked trails on nearby Ucka.

Wander along country lanes through sleepy villages.

Or explore one of many marked paths down to the coast.

There's even a secret woodland walk down from Villa Amelie to Opatija that most of the locals don't know about!

Villa Amelie? It is really a jewel.

We are four ladies past 70, but still very fit, and every year we spend one week together, leaving our husbands at home. Sometimes we book a hotel, in other years we rent a house. This year, one week in June, we stayed in the Villa Amelie in Icici/Opatija, and that was a really good choice = a wonderful house with a beautiful garden and a lovely view over the Kvarner bay, no neigbours around except one (which use their house only occasionally) as well as a very helpful property owner. Iva helped us to find the right flights, she described the route how to get there, etc. We had the feeling we were friends before we met, and the same applies to her husband Al .

People who like to be on their own in the evening after having had a long day, full of events, such as visiting famous places, going for walks e.g. alongside the coast, or just sunbathing and swimming, they are right in the Villa Amelie. Cooking is great fun in the large kitchen, wich is well equipped, and having the meal outside on the terrace is just a dream. We were extremely sorry when we had to leave.

The pictures and the description of the villa Amelie you find in the internet reflect the reality. Indeed, it is as beautiful as the pictures show and the description says. Only one statement is not quite correct: As to our experience you don’t reach the beach of Icici in 10 minutes; 15 minutes at least are necessary. But what are five minutes during holiday time?! And another advice: People who are afraid of driving on winding roads, should look for another place. But will they find something like the Villa Amelie? It is really a jewel.

The house with all its content is wonderful

The house with all its content is wonderful and the pictures from internet gave a good impression. The house is situated at altitude 300 meters and give you a fantastisc view of the Kvarner Bay, Rijeka, ilands Krk and Cres. The house was clean and the owner met us when we arrived.

From the house, you have a good starting point either you want to climp mountain Vojak (1400 m) or drive to one of the nearby beaches.

The surroundings were quiet and the distance to nearby attractions (beaches, shops, villages) was relative short. Car is necessary to reach these attractions.

Nice view

We really enjoyed this brand new villa. When we arrived it was all nice and clean. It has all the facilities you need in a house on holidays. The view is very nice, you can even enjoy it when you are inside the house. Make sure you have a car, you will need it.

Opatija is a friendly place with enough restaurants and bars. If you want to party you can go to the "Colosseum" in Opatija.

Wonderful House with an impressive view

We stayed at Villa amelie in July 2011. When we arrived we met Iva, the owner of the house. She prepared a nice welcome basket and gave us helpful information what we need for our holiday. In this way thanks a lot for all your help Iva and Al!!!

The house is completely new built in a wonderful mediteranean style. It is fully equiped with really ALL what you need, it is fantastic!!! The house is located in the hills, because of that you have an impressive view on the see (harbour of Icici, some islands, etc.), even when you sit on the couch in the living room ;-)

What to do: Villa amelie is a great starting point for hiking or biking in the ucka mountain. In 15 min. you can reach nice beaches or the city of
Opatija by Car (a car is necessary).

To sum up, it was a completely perfect holiday an we would recommend it for all who are going to spend their holiday in this nice region of Croatia.

Riviera life

We had a wonderful week at Villa Amelie. The house is beautiful, comfortable, clean and organized, it has everything you need and the view is gorgeous. Villa's description on site is very accurate and the photos are speaking for themselves.

Our hosts provided us great instructions about the area. You definitely need a car. The access to the villa is a bit tricky but you'll get used to it and I can guarantee that it's worth it.

You can do almost any activity you wish for: hitch-hiking (peek Vojak: 20 mins), sun bathing (beach Medveja, Moscenicka Draga etc: 10-20 mins), city visits (Opatija - 10 mins, Rijeka - 30 mins, Pula - 1 h), island Krk is really worthwile also - about 1 h and 30 mins, rides (jet skiing, boat rentals, go karts, etc)
(all time references are by car)

Prices in the area are normal. You can find retailers with excellent deals, but also fancy and exclusives shops and restaurants.

All in all, we had a very nice week there, we recommend the area and the house to all that wish for a relaxing week with plenty of activities to choose from.
