Diamond in the Rough

As full disclosure, I am a friend of the property owners and have known them since 2003. I, along with my two daughters and wife, have stayed at their place several times since then, the most recent being May, 2010. I received no consideration for this review.
Having stayed at three of the several apartments available in the complex, I can say that they are all very similar: comfortable, efficient, clean, and wonderfully Bahamian. You can imagine yourself staying in the residential section of Nassua as someone who lives there and not a tourist. Friendly neighbors wave as you walk to and from the bus stop and chat about their pets and flowers. If you are looking to really experience what it's like to live on the island, warts and all, this is a very affordable base of operations.
Apart from the extreemly reasonable rates, attentive owners, and convenient location, the property offers what I consider to be a very important asset for longer stays: full kitchens. Nassau provides excellent restaurants but few are priced for the budget-minded traveler. Staying in a place without a kitchen in the islands and expecting to eat meals out requires an indifference to cost that comes with the mindset of paying several hundred US dollars per night for accommodations. Food is still relatively expensive (to US prices as everything has to be shipped in) at the large and well-stocked grocery stores (one is conveniently located in the Cable Beach area) but cheaper than eating out every meal. On our most recent stay, my wife and I spent about $150 US for 8 days of breakfasts, beach snacks, and dinners, including the required daily coconut rum flavored Pina Coladas. We purchased the groceries on the drive in from the airport while our taxi driver waited patiently. The owner recommended the driver and we were very happy with his services. He took our departure information after dropping us off and showed up early to take us back to the airport on the morning we left.
My recommendation is to contact the owner about the availability of an apartment as early as possible before your intended stay.
Happy trails

Owner's Response: Thanks Tim, for your kind review!
Ever since your first visit in 2003, it's been a pleasure having you & the family. We always enjoy having return guests.
The things you mentioned, showed just what we try to
provide for our guests - " a home away from home". !
