For those of you coming to work downtown, the bus is a great transportation option. It is reliable, coming every 10 minutes and affordable at only 1.25 per ride. It runs from 7am-7pm.
I am a german medical Student and spent two months in Nassau to participate in an elective at Princess Margaret Hospital. I stayed the whole time in an Apartment at Van Diah's place and it felt like being home straight away. Furniture in good condition and European standard, clean, good Service, lovely neighbors and the best host you can have. He is helpful and caring. Safe neighbourhood, great running opportunities in the area and the beach in 2 minutes walking distance. Busses take you for a low fare (1.25$ for most distances) almost everywhere on the Island, also to other beautiful beaches. Stay at his place and I can tell that when you leave, you will be convinced that LIFE is better in the Bahamas!!!
Me and my three friends stayed at Van's place for almost three months (august-november) and it was perfect! Van is the most friendly man I have ever met, and he made our stay so much better. The location is really good (we rented another house before we found this house, and moved back to Van only after a week because nothing can compare to the great location and to the wonderfull host he was). Van helps you with everything, so you could easily travel to the Bahamas alone and stay at this place, because you never feel alone when you live at this place. There are many apartments and rooms so you will get to know people from all over the world.
Me and my friends came to the Bahamas to work at an orphanage, and we knew nothing about how to get around in the Bahamas or where the orphanage was located, so one of the first things Van did when we came to his house was to take us to the orphanage and help us talk to the employees. That was a huge comfort.
I would go back in a heartbeat!! It was totally perfect.
If a five-star hotel complex is not what you're looking for this is the place for you. I can't imagine a better place to stay at! Van is an absolutely amazing man who offers great hospitality. The house is in a great location, near the beach and a 30 min walk or 5/10 min bus ride to downtown.
I fell in love with this wonderful island the second I stepped off the plane and the great people I met made me never want to leave!
I recommend this place to everyone planning to go to Nassau.
We stayed at Van's apartment in August 2014. Van is a wonderful host, he is warm hearted and available to give informations. It was a great location in a quiet neighborhood. The bus station is at 2min walk. There are also a nice beach at 5min walk and restaurants.
It is a good place to discover Nassau and the surroudings.
I stayed at september song for 2 month and it was without any doubt the best place to stay! From the first step out of the taxi I felt like being home, the host and all the people there became family to me very quickly. They would do anything for you.
There's enough space if you need privacy, but whenever you are in the mood a chat, there are always people around. Most of the guests are medical students who work at PMH, so it's a very good place if you want to do your internship there.
I saw some of the rooms/apartements and they are all very nice and clean! A beach and the fish fry (a place where you can have food and drinks) are nearby. The house is in a safe neighbourhood and you can always take the bus downtown, it's a 10 Min ride.
I will never forget this wonderful time! There's no better place to stay in Nassau!
I had a great time during my stay at September Song. All the people were very nice to me and made me feel at home from the beginning. The landlord is very friendly and will do anything for you.
I rented a room for 6 months for my internship at the PAHO office. It was therefore an ideal place to meet other students, as there were always people around. The apartments are situated in a safe neighborhood and a 3 minute walk to the beach. Walking downtown will take you about half an hour, but you can also take the bus, which will take you there in 5-10 minutes, depending on traffic. Places to eat are also nearby, such as 'fish fry' a 10-15minute walk, where you can eat and drink cocktails.
Located just off West Bay Street, our property offers convenience and comfort during your stay. A short walk up the street takes you to Saunders beach, where you can spend a lazy afternoon soaking up sun. Just across the street from the beach are restaurants, a pharmacy and beverage store. All of the featured attractions of the island are only a short walk or easy bus-ride down Bay Street including the Ardastra Gardens and Zoo, Fish Fry, Haynes Oval Cricket Field, Forte Charlotte, and premier Cable Beach. The number 10 bus comes every 10 minutes and for the price of $1.25 will take you east to the shopping and dining district downtown or west to the resorts and restaurants around Cable Beach, and beyond to the Pirate Caves and secluded Orange Hill Beach. For those seeking to enjoy an afternoon of luxury on Paradise Island, a ferry boat can pick you up from downtown or, for the adventuresome; it is a 3 mile walk away.
